DPP: Pilots In Public

We all know that pilots find it next to impossible to admit their feelings for each other, even to themselves - which is incredibly frustrating to watch them go through, sometimes.

And yet, for two people who are so tightlipped, nearly all their worst arguments/meltdowns seem to happen in VERY public places, where they apparently don't mind the whole hangar deck hearing about it. Like this one



and this one (complete with Kara screaming across the ring about how they'd frakked but he wouldn't fight her)




what do you think about this, Shipper Nation? Do you find it weird, or is it just part of the overall contradiction/duality package of pilots, and all one can do is just shrug and let it go?

So this post really got me thinking. Lee initiates the confrontation in the first case. But he gets all his aggression out and ends up all schmoopy when she gets back in Home. So maybe Kara was remembering that in UB. If she could just get him to hit her like he did in KLG his anger would start to melt away. And it kinda did.

ooooh, good point! And also, pre-UB they weren't really talking to each other except when work required them to (over the comm channels, and then he told her off on the deck again) so I guess she was willing to take her chances.


This also makes me think of Hero, just the week before - I feel pretty sure that if she and Lee had been back on speaking terms, she'd have taken her observation about the fake Raider chase to him and not Tigh.

Ahh, that's true. Just like she went to Tigh with her plan for saving the people on Kobol in KLG! I always felt like her going to Tigh in KLG was such a strong statement since generally they couldn't stand to speak to each other. By Hero Tigh and Kara were drinking buddies to an extent so it isn't as big of a deal.

Oh yeah, especially since it got her a second public chewing-out from Lee (who, up to that point, kept his disagreements private - in AoC, when he was on her case about the nuggets, he waited until they were all out of the room and had then that discussion/eyefrak with her).

I will always believe that if she and Lee hadn't had that KLG1 falling-out, she would have gone to him instead of Tigh there......and chances are, she might even have told him about Laura asking her to get the Arrow. *sigh* and by Hero, Tigh wasn't speaking to Adama and I'm pretty sure she knew that, so choosing to go to him over going to Lee is a huge statement.

Though strictly speaking, Hero is really filler - it could have worked at a post-UB point, too, this time with pilots working together with Tigh.

It does seem very Lee to keep disagreements private. My guess is that he told himself it was going to be a calm conversation but he just couldn't control himself as much as he'd planned. I think he was hoping that he didn't care that she'd slept with Baltar or at the least that he could convince her that he didn't care.

Going to Tigh when he was on the outs with Adama was a big thing. Disloyalty to Adama senior might possibly be a whole other ball of wax.

I know, and then when you remember that the reunion kiss in Home 1, the end-of-fight hug in UB, and even the hug when she returned from the dead in HTBIM all happened in front of an audience of several people (including, in two cases, their spouses)....quite funny how they lose that control when it comes to each other.

I think Kara going to Tigh in Hero was partly because of her rapport with him, and also because she couldn't go to Lee - she must have preferred to trust that Tigh would pull through, rather than work with Lee.
