I had a buy day and am just now getting to this so I'll make this something we can play all weekend. :)

We've played this before at various comms. Just sign up with Truth, Dare or Double Dog Dare (or a combination thereof, just make separate comments). For Truth, people will ask you K/L-related questions, Dare gets you fic prompts and Double Dog Dare gets you M-rated fic prompts.

The fact that they balance each other, that their relationship isn't simple but complicated and very real.

I think when Lee doesn't leave Dee for Kara in TaB. It's perfectly in character, but Lee totally misses how far Kara's putting herself out there for him. And I have a really hard time with how Kara backs down so easily and goes back to Sam like it was no big deal. :(

yeah, I can believe Lee's balking/reluctance to trust her, but he completely missed it there - it's Kara's 'ok, let's go back to Sam now' that I have such trouble with.

When she goes back to Sam, it just confirms what Lee thought even though it totally contractdicts what Kara was bring to Lee.

It's amazing how Kendra, in under two hours, is more of a fully-realized character than Sam could ever hope to be despite the writers throwing every storyline (resistance fighter! Tribunal! Cylon! Goo Tub!) at the wall in his case, hoping that something would stick.

In large part because Kendra only had two hours and they knew they had to tell her story so they did. As opposed to Sam who they kept trying to make interesting. I think if he had only been the good guy, jock who got Kara through the trauma of Caprica, he would have played better too. Sometimes simple and purposeful is better than trying from every angle because it reveals that you have nothing to begin with.

the 'under the wing' talk used to just gut me until one day I wanted to write a ficlet using it, and it was suddenly about Kara being suicidal and knowing that she's not coming back if she goes out. I really kind of love it now. Which kind of sick, but hey...

yeah, that was how Katee herself said she interpreted it for the final cut :(

But on my part, I believe that even if she knew she was going to die, she did feel better for at least that moment, that he had that faith in her, and after all they did nearly make it back home before she saw the Raider and went haring off and ultimately ended up going kamikaze into the hard deck.

1. the whole 'I'm not divorcing Sam, we're married now, divorce is a sin in the eyes of the gods' in EoJ, while completely ignoring the fact that SHE ONLY MARRIED SAM BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T DEAL WITH HER FEELINGS FOR LEE.

sorry, I just have a lot of feelings about that bullshit.

2. I think whenever he tries to talk to his dad and gets shut down by him with a 'we're not discussing this further', and that happens more than once. Though the one in the miniseries where he meets Bill after first coming aboard Galactica comes to mind.

Yeah, it would have been really great if there had been any forethought in the Kara/Sam marriage and what that would mean in the future. Cuz I'm pretty sure Kara marrying Sam was just for shock value at the end if LDYB and then they had to figure out what it all meant. (I have a lot of feelings about that - the lack of planning in the writing of BSG.)
