Hello hello hello, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday and for those of you joining us from Commonwealth countries a very happy Jubilee weekend :)

This is my week doing the DPP and I thought I'd start us off nice and gently.

For one reason or another I've spent quite a bit of time away from fandom recently and as a result of such absence, I feel as though there is a lot of new fic that has kind of passed me by, and there is also the general sense among people I talk to that it is becoming harder to get people to read new writing.

So I thought we'd have a bit of a love-in. Here are your options:

1) Tell me about your favourite pilots fic published this year (i.e. since January 1st).

2) Link to a fic you have bookmarked to read but haven't got around to yet

3) PIMP YO'SELF! Have you written something this year and feel like it maybe got passed by or under-exposed? Or maybe you just want it read by EVEN MORE PEOPLE. LINK IT HERE!

Have at it folks! And remember, if you read, it is really very nice if you also comment :D

I'm one of those people who haven't been reading and writing very much lately; looking at my journal, the only K/L writing I've done this year was Never So Comfortable (http://rachelindeed.livejournal.com/15704.html), which is a remix of one chapter of [livejournal.com profile] taragel's wonderful Ice!Pilots AU saga, "The Cutting Edge."

[livejournal.com profile] taragel also recommended a really wonderful vid that came out this year, and I highly recommend it in turn to everyone here: bob-radar's amazing Kara-centric, angsty K/L vid No light, no light (http://bop-radar.dreamwidth.org/241592.html). This is wonderfully edited, with perfect song choice, deep character insight and wonderfully condensed and powerful narratives contained within it. Very, very impressive.

Oh, I've always read and written in multiple fandoms; I usually go whole hog with one character or pairing for a while, then move on to something else, then come back around for more when I'm in the mood. This is the first fandom I've been in where I've gotten to know fellow fans pretty well, so I'm sticking around with a low-level consistency that's a bit unusual for me. I love saying hello to everyone and keeping in touch, and pilots always make me smile. But, yes, with fanfic I've been reading more in other fandoms for quite a long time, and of course RL stuff takes over sometimes. But I'm going to be writing a story for the leeadama-daily ficathon and another one as a gift for friend -- I do enjoy being prompted to dip my toes back in and write! Once I fall for fictional characters, they stick with me and I carry them in my mind; my excitement comes and goes in cycles, but it always comes back around :)

I have to admit that I wanted to read your addition to Tara's Ice!Pilots in like for ever but I never got around to it. Now that about 5% of my time is under my own control and even more -you were knd enough to link to it - I promise I'll do it (after a quick re-read of the original chapter).

I wrote this (http://kdbleu.livejournal.com/26470.html) AU with Kara as a cop and Lee as a reporter for the last [livejournal.com profile] the_applecart challenge. I'm going to get back to it when I've finished my [livejournal.com profile] leeadama_daily ficathon fic.

I'm glad you asked this because I haven't updated my masterlist in forever and thought I'd only written one K/L fic so far this year.

So then i had to go digging so I could add Something to Stay For (http://plaid-slytherin.livejournal.com/177628.html), which was my bingo blackout.

As for a fic by somebody else, I really love This Wall Around My Heart (http://pilots-presents.livejournal.com/33614.html) which is the fic [livejournal.com profile] sci_fi_shipper wrote for me for [livejournal.com profile] pilots_presents. It's a really lovely AU with a fantastic new backstory.

Hey bb, it's been a while! I'm SO late to this, but here are my favourites of 2012:

I forgot to post two of kag523's, here (again, one-shots):

Pro Bono: http://kag523.livejournal.com/242894.html

Blindfold: http://kag523.livejournal.com/243731.html

It's good to see you back again, I've been off squeeing like an idiot over the Avengers, but that will probably lift soon enough and I'll be back here with my OTF.

I won't lie, I have something of a Tom Hiddleston problem after watching Thor in prep for the Avengers, lol.

But movie fandoms are usually short-lived, I'm a glutton for punishment and will probably come right back here to the land of Epic Angst and Devastation soon enough.

I really liked him in Thor? I mean, he's a little shit but kind of a heartbreaking little shit who's gone off the deep end, if you get me.

What really sunk me were his interviews, though. He's like a five-year-old who's six feet tall, super geeky and scarily good at doing velociraptor impressions - I fell like a house of bricks.

I think a lot of the fangirling has to do with his real-life personality to be honest. (it does not hurt that he's a good actor too, lol)

And at least he has a personality, I find most young Hollywood leading men so bland/douchey/try-hard, that one who defends superhero movies in the Guardian and wears fanart tshirts with no shame is a breath of fresh air.

I think these are really funny

this is a vid of his various impressions

and this is kind of long and mildly geeky, so here you go

(there's also the Loki'd vid that I can't find which is basically pure crack, but it's about a minute of Hiddleston with a fake moustache/pretending to be Loki, lol)

Oh, and I wrote two little ficlets myself for Tara, which I think are the best things I've written for pilots yet:
