[identity profile] scifishipper.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
Hello shippers! Welcome to another week of Pilots Bingo at No Takebacks!

THE RULES
1. Keep it simple: a bingo consists of five 100-word drabbles in a row on the card, across, down, diagonal. No special bingos. ONE BINGO = FIVE DRABBLES. (Which can be perfect if you love to tell stories with your drabbles!)
2. One bingo per comment: each comment must contain FIVE DRABBLES - you must submit all five at once - no single drabbles.
3. To use the Center Space: you must write a drabble featuring the action in the center space.

THE TWIST
There is no twist today, so all drabbles MUST take place prior to the Miniseries. Tomorrow, the twist will be in effect. (You'll see...)

BINGO FORMATTING ****REVISED****
At the beginning of each drabble, use the following format: Title (optional), Prompt, Rating.

For example:
BINGO #1: Flying CAP [subject line]

launch tube, PG
[drabble]

***

FTL, NC-17
[drabble]

Separate drabbles with *** between each.

Also, for my sanity and to aid my counting dysfunction, please NUMBER YOUR BINGOS, (#1, #2, etc.) Thank you!

PRIZES
The person with the most bingos at the end of each day will win a banner.

SPECIAL PRIZES
Anyone doing a BLACKOUT, aka full card (five comments of five drabbles each = 25 drabbles) will receive a drabble as a reward.

JACKPOT
The person with the most bingos at the end of the week will receive a special prize, to be determined after I cajole, beg, and plead with my flist. ;)

RULES CLARIFICATIONS:
1. Submit as many bingos as you want! use the same prompts over and over again. Your choice!
2. Each day, I will give you two new cards, but old cards are still active (although you won't receive a banner for most drabbles in a day unless they are posted by midnight of the day of posting). Erm...you'll see!

QUESTIONS? Please ask questions as a reply to the first comment.

Huh? So we can only use the cross and X shape lines? Like I couldn't do...Gianne, Solstice break, Tattoo, Bill Adama, Engagement??

Ok I've got a real question--a really dumb, nitpicky one. What is the Battlestar Adriatic? I checked the wiki but it seemed to say it was just a civilian ship with artillery, not an actual battlestar--is that the ship you mean (Hot Dog loses it in The Passage).

Bingo #1 - Laughter

Date: 2012-04-30 11:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] embolalia.livejournal.com
Five, G, Painting
He’s not too sure about the other kids. The teachers seem to like him, or anyway they smile at each other when he uses big words like Grandpa Joseph, but the kids look at him funny. During free time Lee doesn’t try to build blocks with them. Anything you build only falls down.
He hides behind the easel, watching them.
Something cold hits his face.
Lee turns, shocked. A little girl is working at the other easel. She has paint in her hair, and she’s giggling. He touches his cheek and his fingers come away blue.
“Kara!” the teacher shrieks.

Ten, PG, Cigars
“I dare you,” she whispers, and he strikes the match. They stare at the paper-covered end of the cigar as it starts to brown and then goes out.
“You’re doing it wrong,” Kara announces.
Lee frowns. “Well what are you supposed to do then?”
Kara stares doubtfully at the cigar, then grabs it and breaks it in half. “Light it now.”
It flares this time, starting to smoke.
“Go on,” Kara says.
Lee blinks, then raises the cigar to his lips and inhales. He immediately starts coughing. Through the cloud of smoke, he sees Kara laughing, and tries to smile.

Fifteen, PG-13, Frak-up
Lee hears laughter, and his breath quickens in anxiety that it’s about him. He turns the corner and steps into the middle of Kara and Zak and their friends playing spin-the-bottle.
There in front of him is Kara, kissing Zak on the mouth. As Lee watches, Zak pulls away, grinning victoriously. Kara looks up and panics as she sees him.
Lee avoids her for three days.
When Kara finds him, she hugs him hard. “They don’t know about us,” she whispers. “I didn’t mean to frak up.”
He can’t help hugging back. “I love you,” Lee says, and they’re crying.

Twenty, R, Dormitory
Lee shifts, trying to hold his towel so it hides his erection. “Sorry, Captain,” he stammers. “I didn’t mean to--”
The man looks around suspiciously. “I know the frat regs are hard to follow and I’m glad to hear you were just...ah...taking care of yourself. Try to keep it down.”
Lee sees the floor-length curtain twitch and can feel Kara’s laughter threatening to explode. “Can we talk later?” he asks quickly.
“Sure.” The Captain leaves.
Kara slips out, shaking with amusement, and reaches for his towel. “Time to take care of you,” she purrs, and pulls it away.

Twenty-five, NC-17, Fresh flowers
“He loves me, he loves me not,” Kara sings, sitting in the middle of their bed, plucking at her wedding bouquet.
Lee drops his tuxedo pants to the floor and grabs her ankle, kissing it as she giggles, then tracing his lips up the inside of her leg until she’s gasping and running her fingers through his hair.
“He loves you, he loves you,” Lee murmurs against her skin.
“Lee,” Kara begs as he finally tastes her.
“Say it,” he orders, pulling back far enough that she whimpers in protest.
Kara gazes down at him, smiling. “I love you, too.”

I love all of these, but bbpilots, teenage pilots and frat regs/wedding night have a special place in my heart (and UNFFFFF the wedding night one).

edit: I second the brilliance of your tying all the drabbles together by following them from kindergarten into adulthood. It is genius, and so sweet:)

This is awesome. Love Lee standing up to both his parents for Kara. And getting the girl in the end. <3

Oh and I like the little hint at how he might not have reacted too well at first but they make up in the end and it is all well.

Bingo #1 - Unexpected Pleasures

Date: 2012-05-01 02:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] callmeonetrack.livejournal.com
A Helping Hand, reserves (PG)

If Lee hadn’t already detested the military with a passion, this teamwork exercise would’ve done it. Scaling the huge wall was impossible without help, but his squadmates hated him. He’d heard them dogging him, the daddy’s boy with the callsign of a god.

Three months till solstice break; nine more playing wind-up soldier then he was done with the Reserves. Free to live his own life finally.

Taking a running jump, he hauled himself halfway up before getting stuck, tired muscles protesting. Then a hand grasped his forearm, pulling him over the ledge. Golden-green eyes sparkled at him. Lee grinned.

Change of Plans, solstice break (PG)

Kara knew everybody and everybody knew Kara. She bulldozed through social circles, pulling Lee in her wake to the mess, pick-up pyramid, triad tournaments. They were a package deal.

The night before break, she sat on his rack, watching as he carefully folded clothes into his duffel.

“When’s your shuttle, Kara?”

“Not going home.”

“You’re staying here? Gods, why?”

Kara shrugged, fingers twitching on the bed, and suddenly Lee remembered a story she’d slurred into his ear one drunken night. About her mom and rubber bugs.

His duffel was emptied twice as quickly and far less carefully with Kara helping.

Time’s Up, almost kiss (PG)

Lee’s countdown dwindled from months to days then hours. Just a few were left when Kara grabbed a bottle of ambrosia and his hand, tugging him away from the party, up to the roof.

Kara glowed in the moonlight as she turned, slid closer, her body swaying into his. Her breath ghosted across his lips and
Lee froze, wondering. Hoping. Waiting. The moment stretched... then passed as Kara shifted, threw her arms around his neck.

“I’ll miss you,” she whispered.

He squeezed her tight, swallowing hard, unsure if it was sadness or disappointment thickening his throat. “I’ll miss you too.”

Reunion, uniform (PG)

Readjusting to civilian life was harder than Lee expected. He missed flying, missed the base routines. More than that, though, he missed Kara. He still heard her voice in his head sometimes.

Lee thought his eyes were playing tricks on him too when he caught a glimpse of bright blonde hair and fleet uniform at his law school graduation. “Kara?”

“Didn’t think I’d miss seeing you get your fancy diploma, Apollo, did ya?”

Lee couldn’t speak, his throat thick with emotion again. So he pulled Kara close, and did what he should have two years ago, his mouth covering hers.

Change of Plans Redux, Battlestar Adriatica (NC-17)

Lee had thought he’d known almost everything about his best friend.

But he hadn’t known this – this softness of her skin under his palms as he parted her thighs, this sweet-salty taste of her on his tongue, this hushed whimper when he slid inside her.

After, tangled together in bed, Kara surprised him again. “My tour on Adriatica’s done next week,” she said softly, twining their fingers together. “I could switch to Pegasus-” Nervous eyes flitted to his, “or be an instructor here at HQ.”

Joy lit up his heart and he kissed her.

It was good to be wrong.

BINGO #1: Aftermath (all PG)

Date: 2012-05-02 03:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] plaid-slytherin.livejournal.com
It occurred to me after I started writing that it wasn't actually clear to me if Zak had actually completely completed all of his training. So this can be AU if I am wrong!

Graduation

She wasn't sure why she came—the reminders of Zak were painful, and she hadn't been close with any of the other students in his class. Not enough to come after she'd stormed out and turned in her wings. She couldn't tell what had possessed her to come to graduation and see all Zak's former classmates.

"Guess you came for the same reason I did."

Kara's breath caught in her throat when she saw who it was. Lee Adama was standing by the chair next to hers, looking as though he was about to ask her permission to sit down.

**

Uniform

"He should be up there," she said. "He wanted it so bad."

Lee was silent. Kara noticed he wasn't wearing a uniform either, but she wasn't about to comment, lest he comment on the lack of hers.

"He deserved it," Lee said, finally sitting. "Definitely more than me."

"Don't say that."

"It's true. He wanted it more than I did. I just wish we'd realized he was the one cut out for the military."

But not for flying, Kara thought and held her tongue.

They were both silent as they watched the new pilots, crossing the stage in their uniforms.

**

Crash

"He wasn't cut out for flying," she said, voice low. "He shouldn't have been in that Viper."

"Oh, no," Lee said, with the confidence of an older brother who knows. "You couldn't find someone more suited to flying than Zak."

She opened her mouth, but the words didn't come. All she could see was the remains of Zak's bird, the crash of the glass breaking.

One day, she would have to be honest, but it couldn't be today, not with these two betrayals so prominent in her memory. She'd never told Zak about Lee. She couldn't tell Lee about Zak.

**

Bill Adama

"I just did it out of obligation," Lee went on. They were both thoroughly ignoring the onstage proceedings, in favor of each other. "I thought that maybe this, if nothing else, would make my father care." He sighed. "I know the truth now. It would never have mattered. Zak was lucky because he actually enjoyed it."

Kara swallowed hard, remembering how much the military had meant to Zak. She knew it wasn't just because of his father, but that had been there, too, the younger son desperately seeking his absent father's approval. She wished Lee knew he really did care.

**

Photograph

They stayed sitting there after the ceremony was over, after the graduates had gone off with their families. A few had acknowledged Kara, none recognized Lee.

Finally, Kara got up and left the hall, not looking back to where she'd left Lee.

What she saw in the lobby stopped her in her tracks.

She hadn't noticed it when she'd come in, but there was a large photograph of Zak there, among the pictures of the graduates. The black ribbon memorialized the loss. She felt Lee approach her, his hand firm on her shoulder.

She couldn't stop the tears from falling.
