DPP: Mix It Up!

Have you ever wondered what would change if Lee had done this or Kara had done that? That's what we are going to do today: flip canon on its head.

Bear with me, because this is going to do a few ways (which probably will make more sense in my head than here). I'm going to open one thread for prompting & fic writing for those who are authors. I'm also going to open another for those who want to just discuss these canon changes and/or for people who have fic recs. You can also do all of the above-- don't feel limited because there are different threads.


Possible scenarios to explore:
Kara is the one shot in Sacrifice
Lee goes to Caprica to retrieve the arrow
Kara mutinies (maybe while Lee is doing the above)
Lee crashes on the red moon
Kara flies the Blackbird in Ressurrection Ship 2
Lee is the one who is unwilling to divorce
Lee settles on New Caprica, Kara stays with the fleet
Kara is the one who "breaks her viper"
Lee runs away the morning after
Lee dies in the maelstrom(/finds his dead body on Earth 1.0)
Kara is given command of the Pegasus instead of Lee
Kara is asked to be CAG of Galactica after the cylons attack
Lee sleeps with a pilot (Racetrack/Kat?) because he is jealous of Kara dancing with Baltar

Fic Recs !!

I recently wrote a dark-ish fic (Based on a similar reverse-canon prompt here) where Lee was the one to go back to Caprica and get the arrow: Home Sweet Home (http://taragel.livejournal.com/180524.html#cutid1). Fair warning: it's a darker portrait of Lee than canon usually gives him, including some non-canon character deaths.

I'd really love to see someone give the "Kara mutinies while Lee is on Caprica" a whirl too actually.

Elzed has a great fic Rage Against the Dying of the Light (http://elzed.livejournal.com/103519.html) where Lee is the hothead who spirals out of control after Zak's death rather than Kara, and who fraks someone else on Colonial Day (another pilot actually) rather than Kara sleeping with Baltar.

Apodixis's long fic We Used to Wait (http://apodixis.livejournal.com/tag/we%20used%20to%20wait) begins with the premise that Kara stayed on Pegasus while Lee went to New Cap and she becomes Commander (and maybe even Admiral for a time? I think?) and it's a really really fascinating portrait of a more pulled together (well, except for her personal life) Kara that we don't often get to see in fic. I love Kara being great at her job and this fic is wonderfully full of that.

Oh and the epilogue to my academy series has Bill asking Kara to become the Galactica CAG in the miniseries. (Lee has mustered out of the military but is there for decommissioning.) The relevant convo/chapter is Epilogue Part 2 (http://taragel.livejournal.com/124499.html).

I'll try to think of others that reverse key pilots moments in canon...

My fic I Carry Your Heart (http://leeadama-daily.livejournal.com/236365.html) shows Lee going to Caprica to get the arrow instead of Kara. It has some other canon changes and reverses as well (but I'll be damned if I can remember them now! *headdesk*)

It's not a total flip, but I would love to see a fic where Lee wakes up first and brakes up with Dee on Founders Day.

I particularly love the twist within the reversal in this. Lee waking early but staying Lee and breaking up with Dee totally forces Kara's hand. Interesting.

I have been looking for a fic where Lee wakes up before Kara and he is the one that fraks up by not choosing Kara. 
This seems like such an interesting switch that hasn't been explored in fanfics. 
Does this type of fic exist?

I've never seen one with that set up, but it would be interesting (and, imo, certainly plausible). Maybe you should write it? This DPP is definitely welcome to some comment!fic!

I think what is so interesting about this idea of Lee running away from Kara in the morning is  that it is plausible because the night before he was drunk, his inability to admit weakness with some exceptions, and he saw the fear in her face and he assumes she won't go through with their plan. Lee like Kara protects himself from potential emotional hurt. 

If Lee did leave in the morning what would Kara do? Would she stay with Sam or break up with him? Would she stay with the fleet or go live on NC? Would Kara pout like Lee in Cannon or would she stay his friend?

How would Lee handle leaving Kara? Would he pull an extreme like Kara did in cannon and marry Dee or what? Would Lee still become bitter and fat!lee?

More importantly how could Lee and Kara get back together? Would Kara be transferred to Lee's ship? Would Adama have a heart attack when NC was attacked and Kara have to become commander and then the two have to work together? Who would make the first move Kara or Lee?

Kara meets Lee for the first time - when he is the boyfriend/flight instructor of her younger sister, whom she has tried very hard to shield from Socrata's abuse all her life.

UST ensues, and Lee proceeds to pass baby!sis on a flight test she should have failed, leading to her death...anyone see this happening?

YES! That would be amazing (angst-riddled and heartwrenching, sure, but still awesome fic)! Someone needs to write this at some point!

yeah, can you imagine how much Kara would guilt over kissing her sister's boyfriend the night her sister introduces Lee to her? How much MORE she'd guilt? *shivers*
