Welcome to Monday morning! If you're like me, you spent your weekend avoiding real life responsibilities and are now looking at a hectic week of playing catch up. I've been compiling some ideas to keep everyone entertained during my time as Daily Pilots Post Host, so hopefully I don't disappoint. We've got drabble writing, fic recs, questions/thoughts to chew over, and so much more to come. And if I end up repeating something that has already been recently done, feel free to airlock me in retaliation.

Let's get started!

What things, big or small, do you think Lee and Kara miss most about life back in the Twelve Colonies?

Lee misses his cookbooks, bubble baths, and solitary walks in the woods. Kara misses Pyramid matches, poetry readings, and bar-hopping.

Kara misses fresh air most which is why she moves down to New Caprica.

Lee misses lots of little things but nothing like most people. He is glad he doesn't have to explain why he's still in a military anymore.

Yeah, I have to do a lot of fast thinkin' to figure out Kara on New Caprica at all actually, outside of putting some clear distance between her and Lee. But I've never been able to come up with a satisfying 'job' for Kara. I can't see her working as a mechanic (which comes up in fic now and again) or teaching art at Laura's school (which I've run into too). I usually end up kind of thinking that Kara was kind of a housewife (with Ellen of all frakkin' people) which is totally not Kara, but that's what happens.

Lee misses real food, grown in the ground, bought on Saturdays from the farmers market. He misses the feel on sunlight on his skin. The sound of speech without the echo of steel walls accompanying it. And his mother voice.

Kara misses stogies, lots and lots of stogies. The smell of real grass and the feel of wind blowing through her hair when she flies down the highway. There's no wind in the vacuum of space.

Lee misses really believing that someday he'd have a home and a family and be happy. But he's not sure when exactly he lost that.

Kara misses anonymity, the chance to just lose herself in a crowd or a bar or wandering through the woods. On Galactica she has a reputation to maintain.

I think this is the only concrete thing that Lee would miss. I also agree not in a sudden end of the world sort of way but in a kind of sad, gradual way.

I think in the same vein as Kara missing downtime, she must miss creativity, yeah? I bet they both miss solitude...the kind that is self-imposed and a relief from day to day life.

I think Lee misses the vast variety of music and literature. And the open-ended possibility that exists when it's not the end of the worlds. (Kara, too, on that one, but not consciously...she misses that tiny space in the back of her head that hopes she'll turn out ok in the end, and yet with the end of the worlds that spot was sorta taken over with, "See? It didn't frakkin' matter anyway!")
