Thursday: Drabbles!
Feb. 9th, 2012 08:47 amToday, a little in advance of that most famed love-note writing holiday, Valentine's day, a ficlet challenge! Our pilots tend not to be great with their words when they're in the moment, but we all know they have some things they'd like to say to each other. Write a note (or the story of a note) between Lee and Kara.
It can be simple:
Lee,
I told Tigh talk-like-a-pirate day was your idea. Stay out of his way! :)
- Kara
Or as long as you'd like! Feel free to leave prompts.

Also, we group-wrote seven hilarious stories yesterday that you should go back and check out. One has a pigeon. Another has a three-legged dog. You guys are awesome!

Date: 2012-02-09 04:07 pm (UTC)Lee came back from a double CAP shift. He was too tired to take a shower, almost too tired to pull his boots off, but he knew he'd regret it if he didn't. The heavy-toed shoes hit the ground with a soft thud. As he slid between the sheets, he glanced to Kara's sleeping quarters, hating himself for hoping he'd see her. No such luck: the sheets were rumpled without her lanky form to grace them.
His eyes closed. He slept dreamlessly.
Upon waking, he stretched, turning his head and rotating his torso. He'd curled up while sleeping and had a crick in his neck. Shoving the pillow back into place, his fingertips encountered something unexpected. There was a note in his bed in the space usually occupied by his pillow.
Lee, come find me in the showers. I'll be waiting.
It wasn't signed, but he'd know her handwriting anywhere.

Date: 2012-02-09 01:47 pm (UTC)The last thing he takes out is the picture she’s had taped in the door of every locker since she came to Galactica, and as he eases it free of its tape, a note drops to the floor.
Helo unfolds the paper slowly. I loved you. That’s all it says, but he knows who it’s for, her back-up plan in case one day she didn’t come back. His heart in his throat, Helo tucks the note and the photo in his pocket. Sam can have the rest, but Lee will want these.

Date: 2012-02-09 05:55 pm (UTC)He heads warily toward it. “Kara?” he asks loudly, in case she’s catching a quick nap.
No one answers, so Lee slides the curtain open. Inside, a book a resting on Kara’s pillow. A book with a note on top. A note with his name on it. He scans it quickly.
LEE! Whatever you do, DON’T READ THIS.
Lee rolls his eyes and throws the note back. Like he’d look at her personal property.
But as he changes out of his flightsuit and into his BDUs, Lee can’t help wondering what’s so private. Finally, with a nervous glance at the hatch, Lee heads back to her rack and flips the book open. The pages are hand-written, clearly a diary, and Lee’s just starting to realize it’s not Kara’s hand-writing when his eyes catch on one horrifying sentence: I’ve never felt as alive as when Bill Adama slides into my tight, wet-- With a cry of outrage, Lee drops the book onto the floor.
Immediately Kara’s laughter fills the room. She’s hanging out of Hot Dog’s rack on the opposite bunk, cackling, tears in her eyes at the look on his face. “Oh, Lee!” she gasps. “Oh, your face!”
He glares at her until even he starts to chuckle. “Please tell me you faked that,” he grumbles.
Suddenly Kara’s eyes are even brighter, more gleeful. “Nope. The President left in my Raptor!”
Lee closes his eyes, trying to burn out the mental images.
Kara jumps down, bending to retrieve the book. “Next time,” she winks, “you should really listen to me.”
