DPP: I Resolve

The new year is nearly upon us! Get your writing hats on for the weekend challenge which will be all about New Year's prompts (and don't miss the lovely ficlet that kdbleu wrote for yesterday's Before and After post!) 

But for today, let's hear some of Lee and Kara's New Year's Resolutions, eh? They can be serious or they can be silly or they can be sexy--do it up pilots-style!




Here's a few to get you started...

Kara's list:
I resolve... to make the nuggets cry at least once a week next year. 
I resolve... to steal all of Lee's towels from now on.
I resolve...

Lee's list:
I resolve... to win a game against Kara in strip triad....for once. 
I resolve... to cut back on the noodles and start doing morning laps around the Pegasus.
I resolve...

And as a bonus, as fans, what would we resolve for Lee and Kara?
Tara's list:
I resolve... to put tables in every single room they are in, since they can't resist them. And to dog the hatches from the outside. ;)
I resolve... to steal Baltar's cylon detector and figure out the final five earlier, thus preventing the unnecessary quad of doom. 
I resolve...

Kara's list

I resolve to only shout out names during sex if it's the name of the person I'm having sex with. Unless I'm having sex with someone I don't like.
When I poof I'll try to give more warning next time. People can be so freaked out by it. Who knew? It's a totally natural process, if you're an angel.
I'll try not to laugh at Lee. Unless he deserves it.

Lee's list

I resolve to only marry people if they are people I want to marry. No matter who anyone else (ahem) happens to be married to at the time.
I have written on the blackboard 'Technology is good. It saves lives.' One hundred times, like the teacher said.
I'll try not to punch Kara, unless she asks for it.

Leoben's Kara/Lee-related resolution

In the name of the Heavenly Father I vow to never be jealous of another's love. I know that the love that God created is infinite, it flows through all and in all. The love that my Kara has for her friend Lee is sent by God. It is wrong to deny any love that God has created. Don't you agree?

My resolution

To keep insisting that Kara comes back from the poof, eventually. Of course she does.

Yes, Lee - people need some form of technology. Aim for trying to make greener tech that you treat nicely, then it should be okay.

I really like that you incorporated Leoben in this. And yes, writing ti on the board usually helps - if you have enough markers to actually make it to a couple of hundreds.

Kara:
I resolve not to get married while drunk. Or pick fights will Lee while drunk. Or get tattoos while drunk. Or hit the XO while drunk, even if he starts it and really has it coming.

I resolve to drink less.

Lee:
I resolve to act more and think less, especially where Kara's concerned. I resolve to frak her senseless at least once a day, or maybe twice to make up for all the ones we've missed. I resolve to avoid asphyxiation whenever possible. Except in bed with Kara.

Resolve to avoid the wrong relationships. Again.
Resolve to ignore Kara's bad habits and be more supportive.
Resolve to be less selfish.

Scifishipper:
Resolve to finish my WIP. Yes this will happen.
Resolve to make more LJ friends.
Resolve to write more short fic.
Resolve to collaborate with KAG523. THIS MUST HAPPEN.

Kara

I resolve to not dive into any cloud banks, no matter how much they look like my paintings. (Unless there is someone there to catch me, or I have an idea of what I'm getting into - there has to have been a better way)
I resolve to stick around post sex to longer.

Lee

I resolve to pull my surprised eyebrow more, because it's cute.
I resolve to seek treatment for when I get down.
I resolve to deal with my feelings towards Dad without letting them turn into a two year grudge.

My list

Come up with as many ways as possible to bring Kara back from the dead.
Make more fandom buddies.
Work out the internal structure of Galactica, instead of just saying hanger, CiC or corridor.
Finish all outstanding WIP's.

Resolutions Are Overrated (PG)

"Resolutions are overrated," Lee slurred, focusing on steadying the bottle's tip over Kara's empty glass.

The gold liquid poured in and Lee pulled the bottle up and settled it gently on the metal table.

"That's why we've got to take what we can now..." he said, mind a million miles away to a past where resolutions were once possible.

"So why don't we do it anyway?"

"Do what?" He asked, raising an eyebrow, the edge of the glass nearly against his lips.

"Make 'em like we've got time..." Kara's eyes were intense and he smiled ruefully.

"You first," Lee said, eyes wary and he held his breath until she spoke.

"I resolve not to call you a dipstick in the briefing room."

He laughed and tipped his glass towards her. "I'll drink to that."

With a smile on her face, she challenged him next.

Lee tilted his head, thinking. "I resolve to give my problem pilot fewer double shifts."

"Gee thanks, Lee. How generous." She smirked and rolled her eyes, taking a swig of her drink.

"I do what I can," he answered and stared at the opposite wall, feeling the alcohol seeping into his limbs creating a sense of calm he hadn't felt in weeks.

"I resolve to kill more toasters!" Kara hooted, raising her glass.

"So say we all," he answered, his glass clanking against hers.

Suddenly feeling serious, Lee frowned. "I resolve to keep more nuggets alive."

Kara just nodded, her expression matching his as she drank.

They sat quietly for long minutes, each lost in thought.

"I resolve not to get myself killed," Kara finally said, her voice taking on a far-away quality.

"You'd better not," Lee said, his eyes flashing to hers in warning.

"Why, Lee?" she asked, arching an eyebrow and leaning slightly closer. "Would you miss me?"

His mind flashed back to that same question, the answer he had wanted to give but had been too angry to say.

"Yeah," he said, staring hard at her face, eyes momentarily dropping to the moisture on her lower lip. "I would."

Kara took a breath, eyes softening with emotion.

"Me, too."

Their unspoken connection flared hot and Kara closed the space between them, breath hot and sweet near his mouth. "Let's keep our resolutions, Lee. All of them."

She kissed him.

that's the ultimate resolution. too bad that TPTB didn't took that into account.

it's a great mash-up between the idea of NYE resolutions and that scene in Scar.

Oh, this is really great. I love the call back to Scar and the sweet, honest conversation. And kissing. I like to think this will turn out better than the kissing in Scar though. ;D

Kara

I resolve.... to stay away from the triad table at least once a month. Give them a chance to win for a change.
I resolve.... to try and not complain about the schedule. Well, at least when I make it.

Lee
I resolve... to try and not put Kara and Kat on the same rotation ever again. Unless they make fun of me during debriefings.
I resolve.... to take more advantage of the tables that some people left all over the ship.

Ana
I resolve... to at least try and finish reading some of the 50 plus fics that I have opened in different tabs.
I resolve... to manage and do a a complete rewatch. Maybe like this I'll stop trying to figure out ways in which the end might have been different.

Kara:

* I resolve to get my hair cut by someone who's not drunk or using a knife. I resolve to spray Lee with hoses more often. I resolve to put condoms in all of the nuggets' lockers except for Hot Dog's.

Lee:

*I resolve to frak more, think less, especially with blondes. I resolve to get my hair cut, but not by Kara. I resolve to build a home with an amazing kitchen (http://www.flickr.com/photos/msdeena/6215624261/) and more dinner parties that end with less awkwardness. I resolve to be nice to pigeons.

My resolutions for Kara and Lee:

*I resolve to see them stuck in locked rooms together. I resolve to see them having threesomes. I resolve to see them getting tattoos together. (Hopefully I can prompt some of the lovely writers to do this... :D)

My own fannish resolutions:

*I resolve to be an excellent beta for letterstonorah. I resolve to comment on every fic I read. I resolve to rewatch the whole series.

Resolution Drabble

At the New Year, Kara’d muttered her resolution about finding a way to deal with shit that didn’t involve booze or violence, downing her ambrosia glass.

Something changed that year. He couldn’t place what it was exactly, at first. She still had that unmistakable wild, crackling energy about her but something about it was brighter. She seemed brighter—happier.

He hadn’t been snooping through her things, exactly, when he found the sketchbook, Kara’s death-threats scrawled across the cover. The first page was dated 1/1, covered in elaborate pencil strokes forming the word Destruction, and inverted as a mirror image: Creation.
