ABOUT YOU:
Name: kag523, ‘The KAG’, Karin (and sometimes other things. LOL)
Location: Canada – WOOT!
Usual BSG fandom activities: I write ALL THE TIME. And if I read, I comment... ALWAYS.
Other fandoms you love: Really, BSG is the only one for me. And though I used to love the X-Files, but was never part of fandom. My One True Fic is a crossover for Inception, so I love that fandom too (though I never participate). I am trying to catch up on Fringe and Dr. Who, so that I can jump in. There’s a small revolution trying to get me to watch Buffy. And if The English Patient had a fandom, I’d be there too.

NAME YOUR FAVORITE:
Piloty episodes: Unfinished Business guts me. Though I also love 33 and Scar.
Kara personality trait: I have a LOT of Kara. I’m fierce, and independent. A bit of a fighter. (Bit of might be an understatement.) I’m loyal (almost to a fault) to those I love, and will forgive most things from those people.
Lee personality trait: *frowns* Not sure I actually have much of Lee in me. I suppose I’m quite fastidious about keeping my house clean. LOL Is that a Lee-ism???
Kara hair: Loved it during the UB fight.
Lee hair: Short Season 1 hair. (Yes, even the strange ice cream cone thing.)
Angsty moment: Choice 1: Under the Wing. Choice 2: Morning after Founders’ Day. YES. I totally get why she ran.
Kiss: Love the kisses in Scar.
Hug: Er... I can’t remember the episode title. The “Are We Okay” hug.
Banter: Mini and Season one pilots. Everything!
Handshake: The first one in the Mini when I suddenly went... Um. Okay? I think there’s WAY more here than I thought.
Quiet moment: I’m Lee, you’re Kara at the Memorial Wall.
Buddy!cops moment: Mutiny WOOT!
Deleted or extended scene: Watching the Olympic Carrier footage in the Razor outtakes (I think.)
Pilot GIF or CAP: Scar Drinking then Makeout FOREVER!!!

There’s a small revolution trying to get me to watch Buffy

can I join that revolution? you have to watch it. I saw it in high-school (also known as pre-history) and then again a couple of years ago and love it both times. for totally different reasons but love it all the same.

And if I read, I comment... ALWAYS.

I'm not a writer but I strongly believe in this statement. It's one of the reasons for which I have like open tabs. There are fics that I would have time to read but not enough to comment. So, I postpone the reading part until I'm able to do the commenting part.

You are AMAZING for this! And it really does make such a difference to writers. *hugs* Thank you! :D

Buffy needs watching. Until I found BSG I never thought I'd love anything as much as Buffy. *pokes at you* Go. Watch. I'll also warn you that the first season is 100% pure camp and that things get unbelievably amazing in Season 2 when they introduce the villains for that season. (Helps that one of them is my favorite character in the whole series.) But just keep with it.

I'm indeed considering it. (Helps that MarkDoesStuff is now poking me on twitter to watch with him too ;) I genuinely am busy though. I have to weigh how long it'll take and whether I can tolerate the camp... I have little patience with that.

Just being honest - but THANK YOU for the stellar review! :D

Buffy isn't really campy. It just has more overt humor than many similar shows. Like TPTB are well aware that at any moment you could remove your suspension of disbelief if that makes sense. But at the some time some of the great metaphors for growing up ever. It's all in the balalnce.

Yeeeah I'm in the middle of writing a gigantic long!fic for Buffy, but it got kind of sidetracked by BSG. Ahem. Haha. I guess I should get back to that.

Oh, ita about comments. I've hardly written anything for this fandom, but the fic standards are so high (and the fic, especially on lj, so bloody good) that it seems criminal to let it go unacknowledged.

There’s a small revolution trying to get me to watch Buffy.

I will join that revolution! Its original run coincided pretty neatly with my own teenage years, and it is basically the reason why I was ruined for crappy "guilty pleasure" teen series like The OC/Gossip blah forever, because it made me expect ALL tv to be as good as this. It was my first true fandom love and Joss Whedon's open adoration of BSG was the reason I began watching BSG in the first place, so I kind of owe it to this.

Do give it a go, it will make you laugh and gut you in equal turns (though after BSG, I think we can survive any pain a tv show throws at us) even if the early-seasons special effects are a bit budget thanks to it being a teen series in 1997. And after all these years, it is still highly lovable - if BSG fanhood is like having One True Love who occasionally freaks out and does horrible things to you but without whom your life is incomplete and grey, Buffy (and Firefly, but that is another story) are like getting a big, warm, welcome-home hug from old friends.

Basically, the point of all my rambling is: do try it! (and if seven seasons is too much to contemplate and you want to get some idea of the kind of vibe to expect, try Firefly instead - that is, if you have't already)

I quite enjoyed Firefly. :)

I am going to give the first two episodes of Buffy a go and see if there's any spark at all.

S1 is good, but S2 is where the show really got superlative and developed an arc (after Joss realized they'd get more than one season) and started breaking hearts.

Also, there are some rather awesome new characters in S2, so don't be put off if it takes a little while to warm up for you :)

Oddly what makes the first, probably five episodes of Buffy for me, is the third episode because it makes a very brave choice for TV, on par with 33 actually.
