DPP: Celebrations
Nov. 28th, 2011 03:59 pmI'm back at the wheel of the DPP bus again this week and I thought we'd kick off with a writing challenge to brighten up your Monday, on the theme of Celebration.
Fics can be any length, the only condition is that the fics have to be based at or around some sort of celebration. Feel free to leave prompts with ideas for celebrations in the comments :D

Possibly the biggest celebration in BSG's run
As LJ is playing up again today, this post is open all week, so don't worry if you can't comment properly today. Join in whenever you can :)

Date: 2011-11-29 08:57 pm (UTC)"Thanks, Dad" Kara replied cheekily, giving Bill Adama her patented grin. "Or would you still prefer 'Sir'?"
"I think Dad sounds nice," Bill said as his laughter faded and his expression turned more serious. His eyes spoke volumes though he remained silent as he twirled them slowly about the dance floor. His eyes told her that he'd always considered her a daughter, but he was very happy that it was now official.
Kara briefly allowed her own feelings of belonging, fading guilt, and happiness to be expressed on her face before once again turning the mood lighter.
"Is it weird that you gave me away to your own son? And we're dancing the father/daughter dance at your son's wedding? Seems a bit incestuous if you ask me" she teased. Neither could contain their laughter, and didn't hear Lee sneak up on them until he had tapped Bill on the shoulder.
Lee couldn't have looked happier if he tried. Watching his father and Kara dancing and laughing together filled him with joy. It also helped ease some of his lingering guilt over marrying his dead brother's fiance. It had been hard for him and Kara to come to terms with taking the next step once they had been in a relationship for more than a year. It helped that when they finally told his father about their relationship, he had been very accepting.
"Mind if I cut in?" he asked his father while keeping his eyes on Kara. She looked absolutely radiant in her simple white dress with her hair in loose curls around her face. He'd had trouble focusing on anyone but her all night long.
"Not at all" Bill replied, passing Kara's hand over to Lee. He watched as they wrapped themselves up in each other, oblivious to the world as they danced. All around them, friends and family danced and laughed as they celebrated the union of Lee and Kara. Most of them joking about how they never thought Apollo and Starbuck would get here without killing each other first. Bill was startled out of his stare when Laura spoke beside him.
"Look at how happy they are," she said as she looped her arm through Bill's. He followed her gaze to his son and Kara who were sharing a sweet kiss on the dance floor. "It's just amazing to see love survive what they've been through these last years, what we've all been through."
Bill dropped his hand into hers and pulled her onto the dance floor to join his family before speaking.
"All the more reason to celebrate"
