Date: 2011-11-19 07:50 pm (UTC)Somehow it had been easier to leave Galactica to command the air group on Pegasus than it is now to watch Lee pack his things to go. She's used to being the one to leave, to getting the hell out of the fire when it gets too hot. Now the thing that was between them, the bullet she fired from her gun, is scarred over and doesn't seem to matter like it used to.
In Garners's last moments, it had felt like old times, him in command, her in her viper, working as a team to save the Fleet. It was better, she thinks, than trying to work out whatever it is they are when they don't have pips and rank between them.
Now, though, he's leaving, and some impulse pushes her to make sure. Death comes quickly and she doesn't want another Adama regret in her gut.
When he pulls her into a hug, forgiveness and closeness snap in place so sharply that she can't breathe. She feels his breath against her neck and her fingers clutch his jacket. Warmth and arousal seep into her bones and she remembers why it's easier that he's leaving.
When Dee comes to the hatch, she steps back, their bubble broken.
Definitely easier.

The things that Kara had
Date: 2011-11-19 08:48 pm (UTC)He's supposed to put everything in this box, plain and brown with her name scribbled on the front, the duty of the CAG no matter how hard it is. So he does, dropping the items in one by one, clothes he recognizes and papers he doesn't, left folded and private like she obviously intended. With her locker emptied, the box lid lies cast aside, the small figures once again resting in his palms.
Later that night he finds an empty locker, sits in the dark, fingers stroking the now-warmed metal, and he prays.
