Starbuck vs. Kara

Apollo vs. Lee

This is a fic trope that pops up more occasionally.  Usually in reference to the duality between Kara and Starbuck, her alter-ego or mask.

Personally, I think that the mask vs. the protected person inside is more true for Kara because Starbuck is a more outrageous personality.  Lee and Apollo seem more integrated for him.  Although I’ve always thought that his relationship with Dee was based on her fascination with Apollo and not the very real and more damaged person underneath.

I very much agree with this thread. And there's also the Papadama transferrence issues (ie, she thought she was marrying his dad whom she clearly adored). But unfortunately, the apple she was hoping for fell much farther from the tree than she realized and ergo, Dee= :(

Papadama transference issues

Oh, hardcore all the way! She definitely could have fallen in love with a younger version of Bill, but our Leland was just not that.

all that i can say is LOL.

sorry, but this part just made me laugh. especially the "ergo" part.
on a more serious note - yes, she probably saw just the common parts in the two men - the parts that Zak was speaking of in that flashback, but realized that the differences were so big and so.... important a little too late.

and now i'm sad. it's always happening when I think too much of Dee. she was a really sad character at the end.

HA! I always bring in the ergo when I need some insta!funny. Reminds me of that completely ridiculous scene in the secon Matrix movie when every other word is "ergo."

Pure comic gold, I say. ; )

Her fate was terribly sad. And I really loved her character (moreso in the beginning than at the end, but she won me back over at the very last.) Gah! So tragic. the first bit of fic I ever wrote was about her, in fact. Her story is just so incredibly tragic.

Oh, SO MANY PapAdama transference issues. She adores Bill, and that's absolutely understandable considering she had her own Daddy Issues on joining the military - but it was never more apparent than in Exodus, when she told him he had to go on with the Fleet to honour his father's memory.

I loved Dee, but her story is just such a sad one by the end.
