Don't these poor kids deserve some fun? We (and the show) put them through so much angst, so for the next two days, a writing challenge: Write them a weekend away, a couple days of leave, some kind of time off. Anywhere in the fleet, on any planet they've visited, or go AU. Just give them a break already!

Date: 2011-11-12 07:14 pm (UTC)Dinner? T. AU, no fall and no angst.
Date: 2011-11-12 08:56 pm (UTC)She sends him a sidelong glance at the gesture as they move into the restaurant. It’s a nicer place than they usually go to, however the occasion called for it. Ten years together was something to be marked. And as soon the waiting staff take their coats and the maître d their name, Kara is glancing around and smirking at the other diners, not quite able to resist people watching and giving a mental laugh at how right she was about who else might be in ‘Saunders’ this evening.
In the waiting area, there were the hip trendy couple, just on the edge of being thrown out for wearing jeans with their artlessly loose white shirts and her elongated artsy jewellery – the cost of their lifestyle branded on their sunglasses and shoes, the reason she assumes, that they hadn’t been turfed out for flouting the dress code already. Sitting sniffily across from them were a group of elder men and women together. The men with sports jackets and cravats and the women with their heads done up in a scarfs and hats like they’d just stepped on the Titanic. They were ordering off the menu by using the actual phrases rather more than their common Caprican counter parts.
Kara grinned.
It was at this point that Lee clocked her look, read what she was thinking and shook his head with a disparaging smirk. She surreptitiously slapped his ass, then leaning in close as they were walked to their table and whispers, “If they see my tattoos, will they kick us out?”
Lee’s mouth quivers, trying to keep a straight face until the server leaves.
“Frak no. Half of these places are still owned by Ha'la'tha members, so I doubt it.”
“How about if I just ask for some cow and rare?”
Lee’s eyes lit with alarm at that, then settled. He didn’t think she’d do it, but then this being Kara, he never could be sure. He decided to play her at her own game for a laugh.
“You do that and I’ll ask for the ‘amusing bush’ instead of the amuse-bouche.”
Kara resisted spitting into her hand, but still held her palm out in challenge. “You’re on.”

Date: 2011-11-14 06:04 pm (UTC)Weekend Leave Pt 1 (R) ...as un-angsty as I could do on short notice :)
Date: 2011-11-12 11:33 pm (UTC)“I’m not,” his father says gruffly. “We’re all going to be busy getting ready for Roslin’s quorum meeting and Colonial Day. But the preparations don’t start until next week, so the two of you need to take some leave now.”
“My pilots--” Lee starts, but Kara kicks him again. He turns to glare at her and catches her grin. He suddenly realizes what his father is saying. Two days off. Alone with Kara. He turns back to Adama. “They’ll be fine.”
“What was that about?” he demands when they get into the hallway.
Kara shrugs. “Cloud Nine is finally all set up for tourists. And if you don’t think you need a day off, Apollo, that’s all the proof you should need that you do.” She flashes him a grin. “Pack your things, I’m booking us rooms.”
*
Lee’s still grouchy as he packs a bag, but the minute he sees Kara in civvies, it’s all worth it. She’s in tight jeans and a purprle t-shirt that looks softer than any of their uniform garb. He itches to touch it. To touch her. He pushes the thought away quickly.
The Raptor ride takes less than ten minutes, and they emerge from the landing bay into a crowded walkway lined with shops.
“Come on,” Kara says. Lee doesn’t ask questions, just follows her to a corridor of rental rooms deposit their things, and then to a bar.
The lights are dim here, the music loud; it’s nothing like the parts of the ship Lee’s been to before. “What is this?” he shouts to Kara.
She steps closer to make herself heard. “Cloud Nine is a Piconese ship. Did you ever take leave on Picon?”
Lee swallows hard, remembering the rampant debauchery of Picon’s club scene. As he looks around he takes in the topless bartenders, the free-flowing alcohol, the tang of smoke in the air. Kara slips through the press of people between them and the bar, reaching back to grab Lee’s wrist when he doesn’t follow at once. She orders something he can’t quite hear. He’s intoxicated already by the atmosphere, by the pulsing music that seems to vibrate through him, and he drinks what Kara hands him without asking questions. It burns.
She grins at him, her eyes lighting up, pleased with him for being so daring. “Absinthe,” she says simply, and he nods.
Everything starts to blur after that: the room and the music and the reasons he shouldn’t be pressed up against Kara on the dance floor, grinding against her as the rhythm of sex pounds through the club. At some point they find themselves crushed against a wall, and Kara looks up at him hungrily.
Lee’s hands clutch at her sides, the silky fabric of her t-shirt maddeningly soft. “We shouldn’t,” he murmurs.
She groans in frustration and he nearly kisses her right then. “It’s leave, Lee. It’s a break. Only one we’ll get for who knows how long.” She glances to the side, and he follows her gaze. Scattered down the wall are couples and trios kissing and frakking--she wasn’t kidding when she said anything goes. As he looks Kara’s hands slide down his chest and he turns back to her, sees the heat in her eyes. And then it’s over: he’s kissing her, and she’s kissing him, and the lines between them are blurring, too.
Weekend Leave Pt 2 (R) ...as un-angsty as I could do on short notice :)
Date: 2011-11-12 11:34 pm (UTC)Lee wakes up sober with Kara sprawled across him in bed. Naked. Naked and sprawled across him. She lifts her head lazily. “Hey, there,” she murmurs.
He groans and pulls her tighter against him. His body aches in the best possible way. “Did you plan this?” he asks, smiling at her.
Kara glances away. “We lost everyone else, Lee. Why shouldn’t we--” She meets his eyes. “Plus I had a bet with Helo I couldn’t get you to drink absinthe.”
He laughs and Kara cackles. When they finally catch their breath, he can’t fight back the next question. “But this is only while we’re here?”
She snuggles closer, resting her head on his shoulder. “Well, technically we do get regular leave. We’ll just have to convince the the CAG to let us take it.” She makes a comically shocked face. “OH, WAIT!”
Lee can’t help laughing again as he rolls her over, tickling her as she squirms helplessly. Then he kisses her, slowly, soundly, until her arms and legs are wrapped around him and she’s squirming beneath him. Lee pulls away for just a moment, grinning at her. “Thanks,” he pants.
Kara strokes his hair, gasping herself. “Don’t worry about it,” she murmurs, and pulls him back down.
