[identity profile] callmeonetrack.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
First, a few orders of business.

Hope you'll all join me in wishing a very happy birthday to our darling founder of [livejournal.com profile] no_takebacks, [livejournal.com profile] cosetteferaud!

Also, there are still many empty weeks on the DPP schedule. It's possible they've run their course, I suppose, and we should just let them die a natural death, but personally, I love still knowing there is at least one (and usually ONLY one) post about pilots on my flist everyday. I just can't QUIT THEM! Hopefully y'all feel the same and will want to continue the tradition.

Now on to the fun! Since our Hug It Out Meme was such a success... let's try our hands (pun intended) at this one:

Definitions stolen & modified from [livejournal.com profile] memebells
1. ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴄᴄɪᴅᴇɴᴛᴀʟ ʙʀᴜsʜ
"Ack! Did you just touch me?" That first touch with another person - usually nothing more than an accidental brush - can stir up feelings and nervousness. Or maybe you both know each other so well that you brush against each other all the time without bother.

2. ᴛʜᴇ ᴀʀᴍ ᴛᴏᴜᴄʜ
Sometimes life is hard and the only way you can let someone know that you're there for them is a simple supportive touch. Maybe you need to get someone to stop running away and pay attention to you, or maybe you're grabbing someone for conflict purposes. Whatever the reason, touching or grabbing someone's arm is the best idea.

3. ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴀɴᴅ ʜᴏʟᴅ
Is there anything more likely to cause butterflies than the first hand hold? I can't think of much. When your relationship goes on longer, hand holding is a familiar comfort. For friends, it's largely the same. Who hasn't grabbed a friend's hand to keep hold of them in a crowd?

4. ᴛʜᴇ ᴛɪᴄᴋʟᴇ
The brush of fingers over sensitive skin could be teasing and playful or seductive and tantalizing.

5. ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴀɴᴅ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴀᴄᴋ
"Hey, how ya doin'?" A hand on the back can be a wonderful way to greet a friend, or maybe just to pull a prank. Or perhaps it means something entirely different to you.

6. ᴛʜᴇ ɴᴇᴄᴋ ʀᴜʙ
There's something innately intimate about touching another person's neck, or allowing them to touch yours. An innocent massage can lead to much more. Plus It's such a sensitive area for many, so lips or fingers brushing against it are a wonderful gesture of the relationship.
Of course, you might just want to throttle them.

7. ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴀɴᴅ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʟᴇɢ
Whether intimate, comfortable, or something more, placing a hand on another person's leg is an iconic touch that is seen in so many places. It's a nice way to be affectionate in public, a hand under the table.

8. sᴍᴏᴏᴛʜ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴀɪʀ
Touch someone’s hair, smooth an errant lock back from their face, wind a strand around your finger-- it could be playful or sweet.

9. ᴛʜᴇ ʙʀᴜɪsɪɴɢ ʜᴏʟᴅ
Intensity during a fight or in the heat of passion could lead to some interesting marks left behind...

10. ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴀɴᴅ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄʜᴇᴇᴋ
Cradling someone’s face in your hand can be romantic or supportive...or perhaps you’re thinking of another cheek entirely? ;)

11. ᴛʜᴇ ᴀʀᴍ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ sʜᴏᴜʟᴅᴇʀs
Maybe you’re just good buds or maybe it’s the start of a more intimate embrace! Bonus points if you work in a yawn fake-out move right before!

12. ᴛʜᴇ ɪɴᴛɪᴍᴀᴛᴇ ᴛᴏᴜᴄʜ
Tweaking a nipple, slapping an ass, fingers grasping and probing and sliding...Oh my! Touching during sexytimes FTW!

Take your pick, make up your own ;) You know the drill! Just get those pilots touching!

The first weeks after the attacks they avoid talking about Zak like it’s a rule. They don’t rehash the time he threw up after Pyramid or the pranks he used to pull on other cadets. Because none of those stories are funny, not when what they remember most is being near each other, burning with hunger and aching with guilt.

They don’t forget about him, though. Lee watches from across the bunkroom as Kara brushes her hair quickly, efficiently. Remembers how Zak told him once that she squirmed away when he tried to brush it for her, muttering something about her mother.

He moves without thinking. When he reaches for the brush as she runs it through her hair, Kara’s eyes meet his in the small mirror.

“Let me,” Lee murmurs, holding her gaze. She nods, closes her eyes and sighs in pleasure as he takes over the task. The knowledge that Kara trusts him coils inside of him, stirring other memories. He leans in to brush his cheek against her hair and catches Kara’s eyes in the mirror again.

She blinks quickly, then pulls away. The guilt still outweighs the hunger.

And yet they can't get pasted the guilt even for all the trust and love. Such sad kids, wonderfully written. *hugs them*

Oh I ADORE that last line. That's it to a T, isn't it?

Lovely writing, hon. I MUST read more of your fic. So let me ask you, what's the favorite thing you've ever written? (Needs not be K/L because - though I love them - I ship pretty much everyone to varying degrees. BSG is my love.)

Thanks!

I haven't really written too many long pieces in this fandom, though I'm working on an epic at the moment. For Kara/Lee, I think my favorite might be Shards; otherwise, my favorites right now are probably Prayer and Violence, the two Kara/Leoben pieces I wrote for the shipswap. All are here: http://embolalia.livejournal.com/9216.html

*sigh* I love this, so much. The little moments of contact that are the sweetest on their own, but just end up fanning the flames even more. (special love for the trust she shows him in this)

I love the idea that she wouldn't allow anyone to brush her hair because of her mother except Lee. Sweet!
