Dream role? well, that's hard to pick. I would go for something complex and layered and definitely long-running. Even if I would not be opposed to a movie that would actually make it to the theaters in my country.
I would like to see them together onscreen again in a couple of years. Why not? No preferences at the moment concerning the scenario. Maybe something.... different from what they already did. And I say that even if I still imagine them as the main characters from the "In Death" series of books. (who cares that she's supposed to be a brunette and he was supposed to have green eyes - in my head that's not happening).
A bit off the wall, but it would be great to see her as a wacky female Doctor Who (who has a broken underside), and Lee as her companion in some more adult stories. Or for them to be in a modern horror/ gothic series where's she's a seer, a fighter against the evil and he's her book learned counter part... something slightly dark, X-file ish'

See, I'm not usually a procedural fan, but I wouldn't mind them playing buddy cops or FBI/CIA Agents or some kind of thing where they were partners who worked together to solve cases, but I would need the show to focus just as much on their characters/personal lives as the plots AND they would need to be tied to some grander long-running plot/case/arc that is something personal for either (or preferably both of them).
Something with humor too.
And daylight, so we could see their pretty faces better. :)
I love your buddy cop idea with all the conditions you set. I'd also add in that if it could somehow work where JB didn't need to be American that'd be great. Though frequent under cover requiring dozens of different accents/personalities/disguises might be fun! Maybe instead of something official they could be private investigators so tricky citizenship issues and other policy and procedure isn't a problem.
I SO VERY MUCH agree on the need for a grand personal plot/case.
I don't really have a 'dream role' for either of them, but I do agree with anamarya that it would have to be something that really allowed them to show off their acting chops. Maybe even a comedy, since we rarely get to see either of them play funny and it'd be a different side of them - Katee was so much fun on Robot Chicken and The Big Bang Theory and so funny and lively irl in conventions and such, it'd be a shame if we never got to see more of that side of her onscreen.
I'd really love to see Katee work with Joss Whedon someday, though. We already got that for Jamie in Dollhouse (and I would like to see Jamie and Joss team up again for a bigger role too) but Joss generally writes interesting female characters and stories, and Katee would be so fantastic. And I'd also love to see Katee team up with Quentin Tarantino in something action-y, he was a BSG fan when it was on and he'd make it good.
There's also a proposed biopic of Courtney Love that's been floating around for some years - no matter what you think of the woman, it'd be a fascinating role to play, and Katee has an uncanny resemblance to a younger, not-so-messed-up version of Courtney. She's also just about the right age for the role now. It'll never happen, though :(
For Jamie, Anne Rice once said she'd love to see him play Lestat the vampire if there was ever another movie made of her books, and I couldn't agree more. He'd make a better Lestat than Tom Cruise, for sure :)
As for the possibility of a screen reunion, I'd say a very definite yes! No real preferences about the roles, though whatever it is, it MUST exploit their fantastic chemistry.
Oooooh I dont know if Joss Whedon making a character for Katee is the best thing. I would probably be a repeat of what rdm did to Kara. Have you seen what Joss did to Buffy? Yeah he is all about "strong women" but he screws them up just as bad.
As far as roles for them to play together? SUPER HEROES!!! even though I dont like batman I would love to see Jamie as batman and Katee as catwoman (check out the controversy over the relaunched catwoman #1 especially the last page!!! yowza!). Or maybe as mr. Fantastic and the invisible woman in a fantastic four TV show? Lol
oooh no Katee could play a well acted Emma Frost and Jamie can play Cyclops who are in a relationship in the comics! Though Cyclops is a huge asshole and I can't stand the character, a new x-men movie or show would be awesome.
I was a total Buffy fangirl as a teenager, so I know that story - but I don't think Joss screwed her up with no possibility of hope. And I think the 'special destiny' and 'death of the hero' themes were so much better handled by him because he actually thought stuff through.
I don't have special objections to a character being screwed up bad as long as the story is a well-told one or the teller has an idea of where they're going with it. Which, for all his other faults, Joss generally does.

why am I just hearig about this? sometimes I think that I'm living isolated from the world.
I totally agree, but I REALLY REALLY want to see Katee as a superhero. Hehe yes part of it is her in spandex hehehe;P but there are some really compelling characters in the world of comics
They had so much on screen chemistry I think I could watch them in anything. Even if it was a genre I disliked I believe they would elevate it to perfection for me.
I know, if J and K were ever cast opposite each other in something again I'd want it to do justice to them as actors first instead of just pandering to us (even though I am a shipper and I want to see them outmaking).
When Jewel Staite and Sean Maher were guesting on Warehouse 13 I was literally bouncing on the edge of my couch I was so excited. I knew it was total stunt casting and nerd bait and all those things but still my little shipper heart was going crazy. It was...eh. I mean it was nice to see the two of them together again and the story was kinda sweet but it just wasn't Simon and Kaylee and that's really what I was wanting to see. Maybe if it had been a full series I could have grown to love the new characters as much as the old ones but in a one off situation it just didn't hold a candle. I'd hate to have that with Kara and Lee. Really, I've endured enough disappointment with them.
OK, this has nothing to do with pilots, but it does have to do with BSG characters in different roles, so has anyone seen EJO in Dexter?? Dude! Total creepster! It's weird.
