Question Time!

Hey all, A few questions have arisen about future posts, so I thought I'd throw them your way:

1) Would anyone be in favor of/object to the next week of DPP posts focusing on Jamie and Katee's other works? This is a pilots community and I'm a little iffy about having an entire week that doesn't focus on Lee and Kara at all, but if no one minds or thinks it would be a good change of pace, I can live with that as a special one-time only event. ;)

2) Some have requested that we start up rewatches again here at No_Takebacks for those less interested in critical analysis and more interested in some pilots-focused squee. What I'd propose is one tailored to cover just the episodes where pilots' relationship is featured/furthered. These are the episodes I'd suggest:

I'd suggest Friday nights post primetime for these (as that's when I'm available to put up the post, etc.), but if others have better time slot suggestions, that'd be fine. Maybe some could take place on weekend days for our folks in other timezones? Or we could have international watches at a separate time as well as we used to.

I think maybe I remember that you are not a fan of TSAR (?), but I carry that as pretty shippy in my head. I'll leave it to others to decide, but wanted to throw that out there.

IMO, the Crossroads II shippy stuff is essentially repeated at the beginning of HTBM, so not sure about that one. Again, majority rules, just thinking on screen.

Friday nights are great for me so thumbs up on that front.

Also, I'm happy to discuss Jamie and Katee's other roles. Is there enough to sustain and entire week? Could we mix in maybe some crossover ideas/fic things?

Wasn't going to include anything where one pilot was absent for any reason, thus no TSAR but I'm flexible if people think it's really shippy. (It wasn't shippy enough for me personally. :P)

Good point about Crossroads 2 also, I forgot they repeated it! We can cross that one off!

Pressdbtwnpages is up next for DPPs and she'd suggested the rewatch of previous works. I'd like to see one day at least maybe devoted to pilots to keep it on topic but majority can rule.

I vote for adding TSAR since Lee's still dealing with the fallout of Maelstrom (and not shippy? He spends the entire episode carrying a photograph of her around in his pocket, unable to put it on the wall!)

There's also really brief bits in Epiphanies (with Kara noticing how weird Lee's been since RSII) and Torn (which is downright painful to watch as a pilotshipper but I think it's important since it makes it clear that shit is BAD between them and just how bad it's gotten), might we add those to the schedule too? A lot of pilots moments are small ones like that, but I don't want to miss anything out.

I think if we end up adding eps like Epiphanies and Torn, we'll eventually just end up adding EVERY episode, because there are pilot bits in nearly all the episodes if you squint hard enough, you know? Maybe in between the full episode rewatches we can just do a fill-in post where we embed the video clips of those scenes in a post and people can comment on it, rather than a full rewatch of those episodes.

I have a lot of issues with TSAR. I didn't like the way they handled Lee's grief basically. To me, the fact that he has the drunk crying falling down fit about his frakking wedding ring in TAB and refrains from openly grieving over Kara (and yes, I do know the motivation behind that choice)...doesn't work for me. And Romo's speech is stupid and makes no sense in light of what happens when she comes back. Grrr.

That being said, I'm not totally against adding it I guess. Just wanted to keep the episode count as low as possible since everyone usually runs out of steam when we get to the hard stuff in S3.

I think keeping the pilot-specific clips of episodes is probably a better idea than re-watching the entire thing, I get your point about running out of steam. But I think the littler moments, even the not-so-shippy ones, should be part of it too because that stuff is as much a part of their relationship as the shippy stuff.

And as for TSAR, Kara's not physically present but even if we're not 100% behind its execution, she's a HUGE part of it in absentia.

Both suggestions-- next week's DPP and the rewatch-- sound perfectly fine to me.

As for the rewatch, Friday night (as you suggested) is the best night for me, but Saturday could probably work if we lean more towards the weekend.

A week of Katee/Jamie is fine with me as a one off. Call it Pilots' Vacation time? ;)

Rewatches are best for me on Friday or Saturday nights - I've more chance of making it along if that's the case, though even if I can't make it (being a crazy Brit and therefore running ahead by several hours in time :)) I'll probably check along and respond to comments later on (when I'm awake).

Can I put in a vote for Six Degrees of Separation to be added to the schedule? There's some gorgeous shippy moments (for me anyway) where Lee's supporting Kara's first steps, and then lights up when she eventually gets out of bed and appears on the flight deck.

There are also some nice Kara/Lee moments in The Captain's Hand, though I admit it's not terribly shippy.

I can't believe I left out The Captain's Hand!! That's my second favorite pilots episode. Doh. ooh Razor too? I think I missed some (I was copying a previous list.)

Six Degrees is probably worth adding too. It's quick but very cute.

I vote yes to the idea - maybe with at least one day or every other day staying pilots-focused, but I'd definitely like to discuss Hornblower, LOUK, Bionic Woman/24 and maybe something Katee did pre-Starbuck (I still can't believe she got the part when she'd basically only played teenagers before, and at an age when most actresses are still stuck playing teenage roles).
