Greetings shipper nation!  For this week's DPP schedule I decided to let those scampy Seven Dwarfs inspire our daily themes!

Photobucket

Please forgive my shoddy photoshops skills (I won't even lie, I just used Paint like a total luddite)!  Today's theme is...

Happy!

Photobucket

I know we all love the pilot angst, but let's let Kara & Lee have some fun, shall we?  Prompt, write & rec your happiest, fluffiest pilot fic!

It was a mystery to everyone later how exactly the beach umbrella had ended up in CiC hanging upside down under the DRADIS console. How it could have been placed there with noone on duty knowing was a source of genuine confusion and Tigh, in particular, was said to be livid.

The two people concerned would certainly never tell for a number of reasons, not the least of which was because that would lead to the Commander knowing who was responsible rather than merely suspecting.

Of course, the other major reason was because the culprits themselves were not entirely sure. Kara remembered the most. It had involved a full bottle of Ambrosia, which in the morning was mysteriously empty. Well, maybe not so mysteriously given the size of her headache and the green hue to Lee's face.

There was certainly a hazy memory of putting out calls over Galactica's communication system in various hilarious voices for various members of the staff in the CiC graveyard shift to report urgently around the ship. She had remembered giving Lee the task of deploying the umbrella, using the reasoning that even when drunk she would be better able to improvise a diversion.

Of the rest she was blank and even she was confused about how the addition had still been there at the start of the day, but she knew she would always cherish the memory of the faces of the senior staff when they had noticed the addition to CiC. If only she'd had a camera...

If not for practical joking what other kind of use could there possibly be for her out-of-the-box thinking? ;)

Yay!! Thanks for the grin; there's nothing better than fluffy K/L to mitigate an otherwise irritating day. I especially like the vision of hijacking the comms. ;)

I love that she "gave him the task of deploying the umbrella", like even when they're three sheets to the wind their pranks are performed military style with delegating and charts! I like to believe that there were charts, with pointy arrows and crosses and all that good charty stuff that charts have :D

Of *course* there were charts. Though I fear they were so drunk when making out the charts that when viewed later or by anyone else they were nearly incomprehensible ;)

So I was feeling kind of angsty today, even though I wanted to contribute to the DPP, so this may not be super extra all smiling happy, but it is a nice kind of comfortable happy I think...

It's set during the Home episodes, in a slight AU where I don't think Zak exists, because I was feeling lazy, and just wanted some cute pilot times.

Read on...

In the clearing where they had pitched their tents, all was quiet, except for the rain. It had been fourteen hours since they'd landed on Kobol and it had been raining the entire time. When the time had come to set up for the night, Lee had barely seen the point in resurrecting a floor-less tent in a muddy ditch, and so had chosen instead to lay his canopy flat on the ground underneath a large tarpaulin, and settle himself atop it with a blanket and his jacket as a pillow. He was probably just about as comfortable as anyone else was, only slightly less muddy.

They were taking turns doing patrols, three hour shifts. He had gone first, and then Kara. He could hear the muffled sounds of her handing over to Helo from somewhere slightly up the hill from where he lay. He couldn't help but smile at the sound of her voice, he'd missed her more than he'd realised.

Surprise is the next thing he registered as the tent beneath him dipped a little, and a pale, slender hand lifted up his blanket, pulling it over a bit and settling it over both of them as she made herself comfortable pressed against his side.

“Anything happen on your patrol?” He whispered, the harsh rasp of his voice louder than he'd intended in the still quiet of the dark. He craned his head slightly so he could see her, but she lay perfectly still, eyes shut as she replied.

“Not unless you count my freezing my ass off sir, no.” She didn't bother whispering, but she made her concession in the lower quality of her tone, the huskiness it resulted in. She scissored her feet rapidly and tried to burrow her way further into his side, the icy skin of her palm coming in contact with the bared strip of his stomach where his tanks had ridden up.

He jolted at the sudden touch, stomach muscles leaping and rippling from the cold, from her.

“Gods Kara!” He shook out his own legs in an attempt to rid himself of the shivering feeling creeping across his body from their points of contact, but she merely tangled them with her own, throwing her thigh across his and laying her palm flat on his stomach fully underneath his tanks. “Cut it out, you're freezing.”

“I know.” she huffed, her breath the only warm part of her rushing across his chest and all too quickly fading out. “You are supposed to be warming me up.” She insisted, and shivered for good measure.

He rolled his eyes and pulled her a little more tightly too him. They lay there in silence listening to the rain.

Her palms were slowly warming against his skin, and her fingertips were dancing softly along the taut muscles trapped beneath them. Her feet were drawing lazy circles along his ankles and up his shins, and each time she moved them, her thigh muscles contracted, firmed, and pressed up against him in a way that he was certain wasn't accidental.

“Kara.” He breathed, it was meant to be a warning. It sounded more like a prayer.

It had been a game they used to play, back at the Academy. She'd clamber into bed with him on nights when she couldn't sleep, tuck them both tightly under his regulation single blanket, and attach herself to his side. The first night she'd done it, he'd been completely taken aback, hadn't known quite what to do or say, how to lay, where to touch her. But her wandering fingers and bright eyes had brushed away any unease he felt with her unspoken challenge in the dark.

So they'd lay together, a touch, a stroke, a caress, each trying to get the other to the breaking point, the point where they'd just give in and do something about it, and each trying to resist the temptation of being the one to break.

Neither of them were good losers, so they always ended up in Stalemate.

It may have been the strangest game he'd ever played with anyone, trying to see how much you could turn each other on without actually doing anything about it, but it seemed to fit them somehow, and it never made anything awkward, in fact, a lot of the time it worked to relieve whatever tension had worked up between them.

“Kara.” He said again, more forcefully this time, the backs of his fingertips brushing down the length of her arm.

“Sshh.” She admonished with a finger laid sloppily against his lips, and a scrunched brow above tightly shut eyes. “Go to sleep.” As if her other hand wasn't drawing slow, illegible patterns on his hip, as if her right thigh weren't moving incrementally every four and a half seconds, back and forth, back and forth along the length of his groin.

“I'm trying.” He protested, squeezing her leg between his knees, the tension in his thigh muscles aimed for that warm haven at the juncture of her thighs. Her breath hitched a little and he smirked at his tiny victory. “It's just a little...” he trailed off, not really wanting to voice what he had been about to say.

He felt her eyes open as she regarded him gleefully, could see the white flash of her teeth as she grinned in the dark and bit back a giggle.

“Hard?” The giggle erupted from her in a short sharp burst, and then she pressed her lips tightly together to restrain the rest.

He sighed heavily and half groaned a laugh of his own. He rolled over to face her, trapping her legs between his own and nestling her head into the crook of his elbow, tucking the blanket back around both of them in their readjusted positions.

“Goodnight Kara.” He sighed again, trying to convey a sense of finality, hoping she'd pick up on it.

“Night Lee.” She murmured, ran her big toe along the curve of his arched foot, and then settled into the comfort of him. He cracked one eye to see if she was planning anything else, but was met only with the prevailing warmth of her serene smile as she drifted into dreaming.

END

I also have a prompt, I basically think someone should write an extended version of that scene from Final Cut where they're in the bunk room getting dressed and snarking about Tigh and poetry and generally being adorable happy pilots, but at the same time parenty pilots (Kara shushing Kat is probably one of my favourite things in that whole episode, because its something you never get to see from her, is her being in charge in that way, the every day, responsible way where she has to make sure people are doing ok). I would just like more of that scene in my life really. Someone? Yes?

I also enjoyed the fact that you filled my prompt, which will be dealt with momentarily, further down the page :D

such a lovely commentfic!

i was just watching that episode today...and replaying those scenes over and over and over and over...LOVE that ep so much. there's so much of them working perfectly together and taking care of each other and the nuggets (love that part where kara's about to lay the camera guy out and lee is all "just walk away" with his hand on her back SQUEE) in addition to the cute fun times. i am going to think on this prompt for a bit...not sure if i'll have time to write it soon so someone else is totally welcome to snag it, but i will think about it. and i agree, there needs to be more adorably happy parenty piloty awesomeness.

Thank you!

Every interaction they have in that episode is just fantastic, and I love it because it does, in a lot of ways, what the documentary was there to do, which was show these people in their everyday kinds of situations, instead of just the big drama moments, and I liked that a lot.

"someone else is totally welcome to snag it"

You know, more than one person could write the prompt and I would probably be ok with it, I mean I'm not certain I'd be ok with it, but I'm almost there :)

thank you :) I think the strange ways are the only ways they ever really got to be happy, which, while sad, at least makes them unique as a pairing :)

I love them in those episodes, its like, everything I love about pilots is in there.

Final Cut

From: [identity profile] embolalia.livejournal.com
For howlinchickhowl's suggestion above! I just rewatched this scene from Final Cut, twice, and the most impressive part is that Kara manages to get 90% dressed and Lee's still hanging out in a towel. I don't know about happy, but there's banter...

***

“Can I be a suspect again? Please?”

Lee laughs. “You know, I wouldn’t have expected threats from you.”

Kara arches an eyebrow. “You don’t think I’m capable of taunting Tigh?”

He drops down to his bunk for a minute, rubbing his towel through his hair and daring her to look down. “Somehow I imagine you slipping something in his drink. Give you a little time to frak with his head while the poison kicked in.”

“Mmm,” she murmurs thoughtfully. “And let everyone else think he just got too drunk one last time.” Kara tilts her head, her eyes widening as something occurs to her. “Nope! You know what I’d do?”

“Shut up!” mutters the pilot whose bunk is over Lee’s.

She winces at Lee. “Oops!” she whispers, and sits down beside him, asks in an exaggerated whisper. “You know what I’d do?”

“What?” He grins in anticipation.

“I’d frak Ellen Tigh.”

Lee chokes on his own breath while Kara smiles brightly at him. At last his coughing gives way to laughter.

“He knows how she is but I’m pretty sure he’d have a heart attack right there.”

There are tears in his eyes as Lee shakes his head. “Well, there’s definitely no poetry in that.”

She stands up again, heading back to her locker for pants. “So that’s a no on being a suspect?” Kara stops, gives him a sultry glance. “Cause you could interrogate me if you wanted.”

Lee stands too, opens his mouth even though he has no idea what to say. Luckily at that moment there’s a commotion in the hall. He turns and rolls his eyes. “Here come Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee,” he jokes.

By the time Hot Dog and Kat are calmed down and the reporters are gone, Kara’s ready to eat. “Come on, put your clothes on,” she nags Lee.

He rolls his eyes and pulls on his pants.

Kara perches on the edge of his bunk while he reaches for his tanks. She leans toward him, grinning conspiratorially. “So how would you do it?”

Bantery pilots are happy pilots, that's my take on things :D

YAY! I'm so glad you filled this! And it's really cute and piloty and also kinda sexy, with the "you could interrogate me" and you totally captured the mood carrying on from the earlier part of the scene with the exxagerated whispering which I really just loved, she's just so mischievious!

Plus the idea of Tight finding out Kara and Ellen frakked is just hilarious. I can just see his discombomulated little face now :)

Awesome fill is awesome :D
