DPP: I'll Have What They're Having...

Ok, today's DPP is a bit of a "What If" question:

What non-Kara/Lee scenes or storylines from BSG would you have liked to see as K/L scenes? 

For me, the top contender is the Sine Qua Non declaration. It has always galled me that canon did not Lee have his own little epiphany about Kara being that for him, after Bill says it to him about Laura. 

And...on a more prurient note...I wouldn't have mind seeing them roll around in white paint half-naked. ;) (Terrible cracky manip alert!)

Off the cuff and without any creativity, I'd have to say the Leegasm. Srsly. As much as I didn't like that she even slept with Baltar (after things seemed so promising with Lee), the fact that the show FILMED JAMIE WITH HER INSTEAD OF JAMES was a full-on taunt. She belonged in bed with Lee that night. Which, yeah, I'm really going out on a limb for this one, but come on!

Maybe I'll have a more creative idea later. I can't wait to see what the rest of you come up with. :)

OH, ha ha. I actually didn't get that at first because I was like....How could there be more Lee in the Leegasm scene!?

I think I'm gonna be contrary and say I'm glad it went down as it did.

It was a nice tease, but after the crap we ended up getting, it does make me wish it had been Lee. :)

The NC sex scene was so unromantic. I mean, I'll take it cause, well, it's Kara and Lee having sex, but I would have liked something that wasn't down and dirty.

I think they showed us everything it would have been if it was "really Lee" anyway though. And if the producers had hooked them up that soon, it could've went to shit in even worse ways. They might have followed the orig show bible and paired them up with Laura and Baltar for good. BLEGH.

Being the newbie that I am, and while still incredibly jaded by the crap ending, I kinda have to disagree with the NC sex scene being unromantic. The romance for me was what went down before and after "the deed." Now, the actual "sex" part itself could have been way more sexy. It was just, so not sexy, and really just rather boring.

I don't have a problem with them being outside, kinda drunk, and in the moment, but the way in which it was physically shot and edited together could have been much more provocative. It was a bit of a letdown how they cut to what I guess was supposed to be this really intense moment with zero leading up to it (except some kissing), so it just sort of fell flat. I can't really fault the editor since according to the commentary for the extended version of UB he was pretty new, apparently it was his first time (either professionally or with that show dunno), but yeah. The saving grace for me was the cute, fluffy, piloty-goodness that gave us hope as an audience for this pair; that is until they ripped the rug out from under us and laid out the emotional smack-down...

This is totally inspired by one of the prompts from the porn battle. I'd never really thought about it before because it's actually a scene I like, but then it just clicked for me. I wish it had been Lee working out with Kara at the end of Scar instead of Helo.


Oh, I'd also like to second Lee and Kara rolling around in the paint. How could that be wrong?

I kinda wish it had been Lee and Kara being held hostage together in Sacrifice. I get that Kara would be the more appropriate one to go in with the Marines, as we saw in Bastille day and we got the great angst and the "Are we okay?" scene as a result, but I would have liked to see them handle the situation together.
And maybe Lee going with kara on Demetrius since I didn't really like his turn i the Quorum.

I wouldn't have thought about it if I hadn't heard it somewhere around, but I would have liked to have seen BOTH of them go into the maelstrom. Maybe that's superfluous from a storytelling perspective, but the whole thing would have been so different if they'd both gone and both come back, been together that way. Then again, it's not really in keeping with their pattern up until that point either, so I don't know. I'm torn. :(

I really love what I've heard about the proposed/scrapped first version of Maelstrom. Of them both being trapped under the hard deck and talking about their relationship and Kara planning to sacrifice herself to save Lee and Lee figuring out a way to save them both. <3 <3 <3 So much more satisfying.

Frankly, I really would have loved Lee to actually save Kara ONE TIME in the series. And there, perhaps, be examples of where he does but I can't think of them offhand. The scene with Sam coming into the dollhouse is lovely, but the K / L shipper in me wished it had been Lee (without the fat-suit).

Yeah I would've liked to have seen that happen too, not at the Dollhouse (cause I don't think that would work logistically), but at some other point maybe. Not that Kara can't save herself of course, but it would have been awesome to see him endanger himself for her for once. And I think Kara would be blown away by that. (Or at least she was in my head...and the fic I wrote it in! Lol.)

OH no, sorry, bad wording! I wrote that fic already. Lee saves Kara in the Smutstravaganza because I really wanted it to happen once. And it throws her for a loop. I think it's chapter three of the Smutstrav...that + the sight of the quorum being slaughtered spurs Kara into emotional epiphany territory. ;)

I can't tell you how much I agree with this!! Can't Lee save the day ONCE?!?! I just got so bored of the "Oh, Lee's in trouble again, go find Kara..." device. I mean, come on, the guy really is a badass, couldn't they give it a more level playing field? He barely got the chance, and when/if he did, she either saved herself (YCGHA) or he basically failed (every other time...).

One of the great double edged swords of BSG is that they twisted a number of conventional tropes and story lines, which was great until I started to feel like it got int to way of good balanced story telling. It's great to invert the rescue paradigm, until you start to undermine the up ended character. If it were an equal playing field Lee should have been able to rescue Kara.

I so, so wanted Kara to go into him after she shot him. Maybe not when Dee was there, because that could have turned into a confrontation. There should have been some time when she came back though. One option perhaps he could have still been unconcious and she could have talked to him about what she was feeling. Or if he was awake he could have gotten mad at her and his condition gotten worse and we could have seen how both would react to that. Or they could have done him doing the forgiveness thing.

It follows that I wanted more of his recovery time in general, and not just oh it's been a month so I guess it's time to get back to things.

I agree I would have really liked for once Lee to be the hero that saves Kara, and not the tormented soul that tries to kill her (like in Razor, Eye of Jupiter and so on). Also would have liked to have the courage to go after Kara on 1. Colonial Day or 2. Scar or 3. Maelstrom or... i mean he really had so many chances for this to happen.
Would have loved if Lee caught Kara secretly visiting him (at night) wile recovering. Those are my first choices for missing things that did not happen
