DPP: Fic Fetishes

I realized the other day that there is very little that I enjoy more than a fic that includes the first time Kara and Lee have sex. I ended up thinking of all the fics I really enjoy because my First Time Fetish. kag523 in both The Officer’s Club and more recently in her WIP Two Coins for Charon . taragel manages to stretch the first time for chapters in her Academy Pilots series. So I was wondering what little fetishes attract you to a fic.

Okay, so I've seen the term "alpha!Lee" pop up a few times and I guess its meaning is kind of obvious, but I'd love to know the specifics of what that is. (And have an excuse to talk about it more.) What instances typify alpha!Lee?

And for that matter, what are all the types of Lee? I ask purely out of scientific curiosity, of course....

For me, the defining moment of Alpha!Lee is in a fabulous fic, the name of which escapes me right now- but it pretty much involves Lee pulling rank and ordering the rest of the flight squadron out of the head so he can 'deal' with Kara, whose pain-in-the-ass ways have final tipped him over the edge.

Banter. I love when they really, really banter a lot, back-and-forth, rapid fire, very snarky. Sometimes people describe ANY dialogue between them as banter, but I think there are a few writers who just did it so exceptionally well...brynnmck and somewhereapart immediately come to mind.

I am also a huge fan of first times, particularly if they're particularly angsty or fraught with circumstantial intensity. I love the first times of everything, not just sex, but the first kiss, the first moment each of them realizes love for the other, the first oral sex, the first mind-blowing-omg-that-was-amazing moment after they frak. I am also a huge fan of in character hurt/comfort, particularly Kara comforting Lee. Although Lee comforting Kara is good too. It's easier and there's more of it, but it also tends to more in charcater.

My fave Kara comforting Lee is probably kaynara's Running, there's cuddling! But it's delightfully bantery and very in character. Lots of people have written post Res-Ship 2 Kara tries to sex Lee to comfort him (me included) but it doesn't usually work (in the fic) and they end up being super angsty. Somewhereapart wrote a really cute post-Res2 one where Kara makes a sockpuppet to cheer Lee up, Black Socks Never Get Dirty.

I'm with Caprican Dame above. It's so hard to choose for me. Currently I love fics where Kara and Lee have kids. I especially like seeing them connect to sides of themselves we haven't seen before. I think it's Ruthkit's It All Came Tumbling Down....but forgive me if I'm confusing my fics.... where Lee had to give his son Will a bath. The writer exquisitely talked about the bath's long list of "rules" giving Lee and Will structure for a poignant convo about Kara's time with the cylons on New Caprica. It's just heart-breaking and oh so magnificently written. And Lee on his knees bathing his lil guy always make me think of the Scar dialogue.

Of course, baby-MAKING is excellent too.

Hm... I don't really read BSG fic anymore, but the thing I love is banter. It's my favorite thing ever between Pilots. Really, the fic could just be banter with no sexy times and I would love it. It's why I adore brynnmck's fic. As well as Tara's and Widget's and Fahye's and a bunch of others who I am blanking on.

I don't think that i really have a fetish. I like a lot of things. Most of them were already mentioned, like the firsts (all kind of firsts), alpha!Lee, walls and laps are always a plus, ohhh... almost forgot about tables - cause Lee kind of has a thing for tables, banter, like i said, a lot of stuff but mainly i like long, logically constructed plots. and here comes the strange thing. I don't really like AUs in general. But for the pilots.... I can't get enough.
