First, having read the script, I will admit that there are lines that Susan says, that I could easily see Katee delivering. And the physical description could fit her of course.
However, for many reasons, I can't see her being that interested in this role. Susan is an Antiques shop owner, and somewhat money/lifestyle obsessed we glean from the script. Definitely not as active as Katee's usual parts, also probably not a prominent part in this heavily procedural show. I also can't see her wanting to go back to the well again, playing part of a couple with Jamie, etc. (For the curious, I am holding out hope--and actively campaigning--that she will get the role of Deena Powers, a cop investigating superhero deaths, on Powers, a series that FX Network has in development. She has expressed interest in playing it, as have the producers. Hopefully we'll hear news now.)
But assuming on some slim chance she did get offered/took this role...I don't know that I would fall so hard. It would really depend on how much I loved her character (or possibly Jamie's). I think without all the elements that converged to make me love her/them, it would be a totally different experience. I'm not sure it's a love that could be recreated honestly.
