We've all got pilots on the brain all the time, right? So, I'm curious about what kind of random and seemingly unrelated things remind you of Kara and Lee?

Some of the more obvious not-so-random associations:

(Why has no one ever manipped the Top Gun poster?!)

But what are some of your weirder, more unlikely reminders?

A progressive group I follow on facebook posted something yesterday that made me do a double take...

"As you know, we strongly oppose fracking."

My first thought: How can you be opposed to hot sex? Especially if Pilots are involved?!

(Turns out they were talking about a method of extracting natural gas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_fracturing), but there you go.)

heee! I just watched the documentary "Gasland" the other day where they talk about Fracking. Every other word is practically Frack in the movie, it's almost as bad as BSG. They even use it in the BSG sense too talking about the fracking Frackers. :D

Well just last night I was watching last week's episode of Fringe, and it reminded me of KAG's Icarus. It's funny how that happens.

I listen to songs, watch movies/tv and read books with pilot colored glasses a lot lately.

Sometimes people will say random things that remind me of BSG and make me laugh and of course they have no idea why. For instance the other day I was telling my mother that I take back any complaining I did about lack of seasons in tropical areas because it sure beats winter and she responds, "Nooo! No take backs, you can't take it back." So of course, I had to laugh. :)

All of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine reminds me of Battlestar Galactica. Names, characters, actors, themes, plots, you name it, I see strong parallels. BSG was ultimately a much better show, but I loved DS9 in its day. I salute you Kira, forerunner of Kara!

She became a terrorist in order to fight against the invasion of her homeland. Her childhood was a violent mess and she had to grow up far too soon. She doesn't expect other people to respect her, so she makes them, using whatever means necessary. She worships gods that live inside a Maelstrom...I mean wormhole. She has an explosive temper. She is tough and spiritual and a top-ranking officer, and she spends years falling in love with the wrong people. She feels both guilt and pride in herself. In the end, she forms an alliance with her old enemies and teaches them how to fight for freedom and begin a new kind of life. She's not Kara, but the connections are there.

Considering RDM worked on DS9 and created a fair chunk of the characters - I am not surprised at the parallels.

Yes, exactly :) I didn't think it was just coincidence; I look at DS9 as sort of a rough draft of BSG. And I must say the two actors who play Doctor Baltar and Doctor Bashir look almost like twins to me :)

I know! The actors even sound the same. I seriously spent the first hour of the miniseries convinced it was the DS9 actor.

One of the guys noted in the "In Memorium" section of the Oscars had the last name of Fraker. I laughed inappropriately.

Also, there's a discussion in my journal about how Lee Adama and Taylor Swift are the same person. It's even logic based. Ish.

Well, right now I'm reading "The girl who played with fire" and I can't read about Lisbeth Salander and not think of Kara (or Kalinda, from the "The good wife'). *shrugs*

Got an email update from idealist tonight and I'd forgotten how much their logo looks like Kara's mandala

Pink songs generally remind me of Kara, which is so obvious I hesitate to state it, but I did because her latest, Raise Your Glass really sounds like she is channeling Kara...and Kara is singing the song to/at Lee, lines like
"Can't stop coming in hot"
"So raise your glass if you are wrong in all the right ways
all my underdogs, we will never be, never be
anything but loud
and nitty gritty dirty little freaks"

sound like Kara

and
"Don't get fancy, just get dancey, why so serious?" sound like Kara talking to Lee with a smirk

also some song with the lyrics

"we are the boxers in the ring"

reminds me of them every time I hear it

I heard a song on the radio that started with
"I miss your blue eyes"

and immediately thought of a certain Adama...
