[identity profile] rayruz.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
Hey, everybody. [livejournal.com profile] rayruz  here, and I will be driving the DPP bus this week. :D I got a couple of silly and hopefully lol-worthy posts planned so let's get started with today's.

Reveille sounds. Kara sits up to roll out of bed, but finds herself banging into the bulkhead as she does. Did she turn herself around in her sleep? Whatever, she's got a long CAP ahead of her. She rolls out of bed and shuffles over to her locker. She pulls the door open and catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror. What she sees in front of her is the most bizzare and confusing thing. Because God did it with pigeons For completely unknown reasons, Kara is suddenly in Lee's body. She looks over to her bunk, the curtain draws back and she sees her own body getting up from the rack. She meets her own eyes across the way, and the look on her face is utter shock. Yup. That would be Lee.

What the frak!?

Okay Shippers... what happens next?

Kara's in Lee's body and Lee is in Kara's and they have no idea how they are going to switch back, the only thing they can do for now is pretend to be each other. What kind of mayhem ensues? Do either of them take some... private time in the shower? Who do they get trapped in conversations with? Does it affect the two of them! (Remember, Freaky Friday was about learning a lesson in being someone else to bring the people closer together.)

Ah Black Market, that episode is kind of like an AU story. The only lasting effect from that episode was Fisk getting killed.

We never hear about Zarek being head of BM, or about the BM at all, no more about Gianne, Shevon, Paya, the murder of Phelan, all of it is never mentioned again. I guess this is cause it was RDM's least favorite episode, so he made it go away.

There was some good idea in that episode, the black market idea in general makes sense, Gianne and the baby interesting idea, Lee thinking about the women in life good idea. However while we have Gianne, Dee and Shevon in that mix, somehow Kara is MIA huh? Why wasn't Kara with him as backup in figuring out what's up with the black market, why was she not even mentioned? Also they tried to tie what happened with Gianne to his space walk, when one had nothing to do with the other. The last thing he said was Sorry Kara, not sorry Gianne. If he was so broken up over Gianne at that time, wouldn't he had said that? I'm guessing the idea was being so close to death made he think over his biggest regrets, and Gianne would qualify, but then again so would Kara wouldn't she.

Yesterday, I was cutting up FoP, deleted scenes and regular scenes and that episode Lee spent time flirting with Kara and Dee. The episode showed a beginning of something with Dee, but also clearly showed he had feelings for Kara. Black Market would have been a good opportunity for him to deal with these feelings. Instead we got more about Shevon and Gianne, then the immediacy of Kara and Dee.

Gianne would have had more resonance if they had EVER even hinted at Lee having a girlfriend around the time of the attacks. It's like alot of the other one off episodes, issues they never even hinted at suddenly were this huge problem. Racism a huge problem when we never saw ANY hint at it before, suddenly strikes break out when before we never had a hint of labor unrest. When you don't plant seeds, it's hard to have something to harvest. When you pull stuff out of your ass, people know it. :)

It really is, isn't it? haha

This episode when stripped down to it's bones had a lot of potential to make an important social statement but it was executed so poorly. I don't know if it was the writing, editing or direction, but something about it is just way off in tone compared to the rest of the series. Plus the whole Shevon/Gianne stuff was thrown in so carelessly that like you say it makes no sense.

Also they tried to tie what happened with Gianne to his space walk, when one had nothing to do with the other. The last thing he said was Sorry Kara, not sorry Gianne.

You know, I was SO confused by that part in BM that I had to go back and re-watch then end of resurrection ship just to make sure I didn't imagine him saying "Sorry Kara." heh!

Exactly wander, even RDM himself said what you said. It was badly executed, and was just off. There's some interesting stuff here with potential to be great, but it was screwed up. They threw too much new stuff at us out of the blue.

I did like them tarnishing Lee's golden boy image, that he's a frak up as well. I think that was one of the points of the episode, but again it should have been executed much better.
