The problem was that the writers set it up so almost all the characters that everybody liked were on one side, and all the others were on the mutineers' side. It was so obvious it's disgusting.
Really, I'm just pissed off and sickened by the outcome of the mutiny storyline because Adama did not learn ONE DAMN THING from it. >:(
Oh, but of course Kelly got off scotch-free or whatever because he changed his mind and joined Adama's merry band of HORRIBLE LEADERS WHO LOVE ON THE MACHINES THAT ANNIHILATED 99.9999% OF THE HUMAN RACE.
