Today I want to know what your "sine qua non" pilots' scenes are. If you were told you could pick five pilots' scenes (
aside from the entirety of "Unfinished Business" which is not allowed) to show someone what summed Kara and Lee's relationship with each other, which five would you pick? N.B. They have to actually be in the scene together, so no Leegasm scene, sorry!) You can also pick up to five pilots' scenes are your favorites (not necessarily the same thing as the ones that are quintessential.) What do you think your choices say about what you value most in their relationship? (Again, remember that UB is a given, so it's not allowed in either of your sets of choices :D)

What this says about my pilot-shipping tendencies? I think that in the end, even more than the blazing hot sexytimes/potential sexytimes chemistry that Kara and Lee had, what I valued the most was their friendship and camaraderie. My favorite scenes are not always the ones of them as a romantic couple necessarily but the ones in which they're buddycops, comrades fighting the good fight, and always, always have each others' backs.

Date: 2011-02-17 09:38 pm (UTC)Think about it like this Kara is very down in this scene so much to process, the farm, Sam, Adama being shot, Lee kissing her. Her head had to be spinning.
It took some work but Lee was able to get her to smile, he took ribbing for letting the "I love you" slip, but in the end it was worth cause it got her out of the bad head space at least for a little while.

* Mini- "I thought you were dead"/"I thought you were in hack"
* Scar- from "Why don't we what?" until she leaves him slapped and confused
* Maelstrom- under the wing
* Islanded- "I saw you die. Doesn't matter."
* Eye of Jupiter- hot kisses that are hot are, well, enough said
My favorites, though:
* Colonial day- The Dress/The Stunned Look
* Scar- You get what you want, girl!* Home 1- OMG, the spontaneous kiss and no takebacks (I know that's 2 scenes. Tough.) ;)
* Eye of Jupiter- um, yeah, that scene again
* Mini- "Apollo, you broke your ship!"
* The Oath- buddy cops take back the ship!
As for what these say about me, hmm... I'll have to think some more and maybe get back to you? :)

Arguing between the Scar makeout and the kiss/slap - lee holding back/kara pushing away - classic K/L maneuvers
Islanded - Lee's acceptance of Kara no matter what she is
Brig - unbridled longing, reunion, and love
Smack in the mouth - the basic tenets of their relationship dynamic

I think there's a lot of much needed history in this one tiny little scene.
*Do I have to smack you in the mouth?
Nice set up to the nature of their friendship/relationship.
*So why don't we? / Why don't we what?
Oh how everything blows up and is laid out on the table (literally and figuratively) in this one moment…
*I know why I was mad at you. / You should hear the way my brain works sometimes. / Are we ok? / You have a brain?
Another nice layer to the dynamic of their relationship.
*Whatever it takes
Which just about sums it up for the two of them.

Even before he actually does shout it to the skies... I just love the idea that Lee is already so in over his head that he's in this mindset. To me this whole bit is like a cylon switch went off inside Lee, only it's making him crazy in love.

1. 'lords of kobol, hear my prayer...' - because i had to choose one from the mini. i know that he is not really there but that scene says a lot about Kara's feelings.
2. the fight after Colonial Day - a lot would've been different without it.

1. the brig scene from the mini - idk why but makes me smile
2. 'you're the worst CAG in the history of CAGs'
3. shooting cylons in tandem down on Kobol
4. the scene with the surveillance equipment
5. taking back the ship in the Oath
what does that say about me? idk, and i'm not sure that i want to know.
p.s. i didn't include the kiss from the astral queen and the EoJ raptor scenes because just like UB they are a given. at least in my book.
