Hello shippers! Did everyone stay up too late last night reading fic? I know I did!! <3<3 Thank you all so much for the recommendations. I will be in fic for a very long time.

Today, I am extending a conversation (sort of) that started on Twitter about other ships. GASP! Yes, other ships. I know they exist, but frankly, they are seriously weak in comparison to my obsession with pilots. Or they last for a little while and fizzle. So, that leads me to wonder:

Who else do you ship or have you shipped since you fell in love with pilots? What show? Why? How do they compare to pilots? Has your pilot love faded in favor of another kinder and more happy-ending ship?

What say you shipper nation?

I was pretty disappointed in the relative lack of Dom/Ariadne in the Inception fandom when I was active in it. And Katara/Zuko FTW.

I think I have a thing for doomed or at least non-canon ships too. Whenever I list my favorite pairings ever, I realize that almost none of them were ever canon/successful, and I don't think of myself as necessarily looking for the odd ships or rooting for the underdog...I just have bad luck, I guess.

i think what happened in the fandom is that the slash just took over. but i'm the mod in the cobb/ariadne comm so we'd love to have you visit there. and we're still trying to make it more active. no takebacks is such an inspiration to me as a community, but then the K/L shippers are such great shippers too.

It's amazing to me the way these insta-fandoms spring up after the big movies come out (Inception, Star Trek reboot, etc.)! They are so intense and huge and people go nutso! I never have really shipped because of a movie but that would be really fun to get caught up in I think!

I think that for every person who finds appeal in characters/universes who are very fully developed, there are other people who want characters who aren't built on as much screen time so that there's wiggle room to get creative with them. I generally find it hard to get into movie fandoms for all that long, Star Trek being an exception because it's built into a very expansive canon and feels old and new at once.

well, that's how star wars became the franchise that it is today. personally, i find inception offers so much potential as a new world to explore. more than the characters, the world itself can start a franchise which nolan is still trying to navigate/manage. he's seen first hand what a franchise is like because of work on batman, and he's seen how bad it can get if not managed well (i.e. matrix). i hope that he doesn't forget about the characters that majority of the fandom fell in love with as well though.
