DPP: Recording the Journey
Jan. 10th, 2011 08:20 amHi Everyone! I am
sci_fi_shipper and I'm excited to drive the Pilots train this week. Thanks to
thrace_adama for bringing the pilots love last week! Today, I'm going to start with a little creative thinking.

Presidential Decree
Laura Roslin, President of the Twelve Colonies, has decreed that each person in the Fleet make a video-taped recording of his or her experiences since the Fall. These tapes will be safeguarded and kept for future generations to view and to remember the fight for humanity's survival. The XO has circulated an order that military personnel are required to report to the B-level video labs to make a confidential recording at a time assigned by their superior officer.
What kinds of things would Kara and/or Lee say in a video about themselves and their experiences? Imagine any scenario at any time in the show. Would they go separately? Together? Maybe one night Kara and a few pilots get drunk and make fools of themselves in front of the camera. Anything is possible. And have fun!! <3

Date: 2011-01-11 06:14 pm (UTC)He paused outside the hatch and heard the bark of Kara’s laughter through six inches of solid metal. Instinctively, he touched his hand to the door.
It wasn’t locked, wasn’t even properly shut, so it shifted forward and swung open. Two sets of eyes turned toward him, both lighting with inappropriate glee. Deliberately, Kara turned back to her interview.
“Most dramatic moment? I’d say it was at Ragnar, when he got himself shot down and I tuned out his piteous cries long enough to ram my ship into his.”
“What the hell, Kara?” Lee stepped into the room, looking appalled.
“That’s p-i-t-e-o-u-s,” Kara repeated slowly, and Hannah lifted one hand to cover her mouth as she jotted it down.
Lee crossed his arms and smoothed his expression into a half-decent triad face. “I trust you know, this means war.”
“Bring it on,” Kara said.
“I don’t think you want me to do that, Captain. I have so much more dirt on you than you have on me.”
“In your dreams, Major.”
“I’ve got enough drunken escapades to fill a dozen interviews.”
“Yeah, well unless you’ve got one where I started a barfight on Cloud Nine – while I was on duty – and you managed to bail me out by beating up the bad guys with your frakking cane, I think I’ll still come out ahead.”
Lee shifted uncomfortably. “I did not send you any piteous cries at Ragnar!”
“You did so. ‘It’s over, Starbuck’ would have sucked as last words, Lee.”
“You look like a blueberry,” he said, seemingly out of nowhere. “I rest my case.”
Thrace narrowed her eyes, but also blushed ever so slightly.
“There’s really no need to worry, Major Adama,” Hannah said politely. “Captain Thrace has been very complimentary about you in her interview.”
“She has?” Lee looked even more suspicious.
“Wait, I have?” Kara said, looking confused.
“Absolutely,” Hannah nodded. “From all that she’s said, it’s obvious how much she cares about you. You seem to have kept her going, even through the worst possible situations. I can tell you, I never expected to find so much joy in the most dangerous corner of this fleet. You’re inspiring – both of you. And very lucky.”
Thrace was staring at her with a kind of fascinated horror, and Adama looked simply lost for words. Both of them had flushed scarlet, and were quietly edging away from each other like extremely embarrassed magnets turned pole to pole.
“I’m off to take a smoking break,” Hannah announced brightly, tucking her notebook into her bag. “I’ll be back in ten or fifteen minutes for your interview, Major Adama. I look forward to hearing your perspective.”
She stepped out into the corridor, making sure to pull the hatch firmly closed behind her.
Impartial observation had its place, of course. But here at the end of the worlds, she wasn’t about to lose any sleep over a little biased interference.
Making history was better than recording it, any day.
