Hi, shippers! Today's topic is the family connection, but before I get into that, I just wanted to say thank you for a great week! It's been fun. :)
Okay, so. From their first scene together in canon, we knew that Kara and Lee had some kind of connection through Lee's brother, Zak. Turned out, of course, that Kara was engaged to him, meaning she and Lee would have been in-laws. Kara and Lee, who obviously had feelings for each other as well. Add that to the fact that Kara was obviously like a daughter to Adama and, well, you had a pretty dysfunctional situation from the get-go. Nevertheless, it was all they had.
What were your favorite Family Adama moments in canon? What about in fanon? Did you think the show did enough with this side of Kara and Lee's relationship? If not, what would you have changed? What do you think of those Apollo and Artemis references that sometimes pop up in fic? Etc. etc.
To get us started, one of my favorite scenes--the first meeting of the self-help group for dysfunctional families and insubordinate officers:

Date: 2011-01-09 06:29 pm (UTC)Galactia boarded by Cylons, Lee nearly killed. Kara captured by Cylons, operated on, and nearly killed. The resistance on Caprica? Lee putting a gun to Tigh's head?
Both were nearly killed on multiple occasions during this time.
In fannon most people (rightfully so) focus on what Kara went through during this time, not to mention meeting Sam. Kara was shot and had an ovary taken, and her mind royally frakked with. However lost in all that is what Lee went through. Committed mutiny not once but twice (1. pulling gun on Tigh 2. Breaking the Prez out of jail and hiding in fleet). Nearly gutted by a centurion. Nearly shot out of the air by a cylon missle battery. His dad shot in front of him, and then thrown into the brig.
Spend a couple weeks apart (however it long was) and their worlds go to hell lol. Think Kara would have learned this come NC time huh? ;)

"And if it was me instead?"
"If it was you we'd never leave."
I think this moment really spoke volumes about Lee's and Kara's relationship with the old man.

Well, I don't have time now but I'll come back later and to list some of my favorite dysfunctional family moments.
