I've got to say with 22 years in the USN, I never could suspend reality for Kendra going from kitchen duty to XO in one easy step.

yeah... not so much haha I could see him promoting her back to her old position, but XO seemed kinda dumb.

That said: I still think the actress who plays her is awesome (and heartless) and I think they should've just written her into a position that was believable to be XO.

Yep, which means I've got to suspend reality on a lot with this show. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I thought about going into the Navy after my stint on cruise ships. I know it's not even remotely the same... but I loved being out at sea. :)

Spent about half my time with the land-based aviation community. Only went to sea once for two weeks.

Well I always figured it's an extreme far from ideal situation. Normal rules do not apply any more. Like Lee said in Xroads2 we make our own rules now. I'm sure in normal times in their world no one would go from kitchen duty to XO, but this is exceptional circumstances. So I could go with it. Besides it's not like she wasn't an officer before either keep in mind.
