Daily Pilots Post
Dec. 31st, 2010 02:09 amIt's New Year's Eve!
Discussion is still going strong at yesterday's post about crack, so check that out if you haven't put your two cents in yet.
New Year's Eve, I'm led to understand, is about kissing. So, what are your favourite pilot kisses, either in canon or fic? I looooove the kissing in Stupid Thing Last Night myself...
Alternately, a challenge. Write our pilots celebrating New Year's Eve.

Date: 2010-12-31 06:06 pm (UTC)Here's how it was described in the script:
"They exchange a silent look, then rush into each other’s
embrace and kiss -- a deep, and ungoverned kiss, the kind
that withers the weedy encroachment of life’s illusory
miseries. They kiss again and again, pecking each other’s
mouths and cheeks and chins and eyes with love, more powerful
than sensual."
Their sweetest kiss was the one from Home 1. Just simple and spontaneous. Just a knee-jerk response to reuniting.
Their hottest kiss(es) is from EoJ in the raptor. Hands down this is true.
As far as FF goes? Gods that is tough. I couldn't even pick one. If I did I'd pick a recent one, but that wouldn't be fair to ones from a couple years ago. In FF I've read them kiss literally a thousand times lol. So, how can I pick?

Date: 2010-12-31 08:58 pm (UTC)I think my favorite canon kiss is their first kiss in UB - I love how tentative and slow it is, and how Lee stops to look at her in the moonlight and touch her face and make sure everything is okay, and then she just smiles. It's surprisingly sweet -- passionate without being desperate.
In fic, I am partial to the kisses in fayhe's stories :)
From "Amateur:"
The first time he actually sees them kiss he waits for the jerk in his gut, but it doesn’t come. He’s been expecting it for far longer than he wants to admit, although...he was expecting something different, if he’s going to be completely honest about it. Kara’s bruised lip. Strength in her fingers. Some hint of the tension that’s always bubbled between the two pilots.
But it’s been just over three weeks since Anders left her fighting tears in the middle of the officers’ quarters, and when he finally walks into one of the workout rooms to find them pressed up against a wall he almost doesn’t recognise them. Of all the ridiculous things. Their eyes are closed, Lee’s hands cupping her face and resting at her waist, hers curled up against his chest. Anders steps back and watches them from the hatchway, adjectives presenting themselves in his mind: slow. Careful. Deep.
It doesn’t look exciting, or dangerous, or rough, or spontaneous, or any of those things he would normally associate with Kara Thrace.
What it does look is real.

Date: 2010-12-31 08:59 pm (UTC)She wanted to laugh, but Lee was looking so serious that she wasn't sure she could. He put the bottle on the next chair and stood up slowly and she watched him approach, her pulse tight and expectant in her veins. He slid his arms around her, bending his head and kissing her carefully and it was all wrong; the angle, the emotion, the formality of it. She felt paralysed, not knowing what to do or how to fix it; not once had kissing Lee ever been this constricting. It had been everything from impetuous to angry to sweet but it had always seemed right and she wondered, wildly, if they were incapable of this when it wasn't wrong or illegal or they weren't attached to other people.
He pulled away before too long and the dreadful awkwardness in both of their faces would have been enough to make her cut and run were it not for his hands, still resting in the small of her back like they belonged there, like that one part of them still remembered how to fit together. She didn't quite want to pull away from that.
Silence, taut, for a moment.
Then Lee's mouth twitched and she found herself laughing and laughing, giddy with relief, his hands still sure and warm and his laughter meeting her own. He leaned in until their foreheads were touching but didn’t try to kiss her again, just grinned and laughed and was her Lee Adama, the one she had missed so badly.
"We are..." she gasped out "...so bad at this."
"Moron," Lee said fondly, and slipped his arms all the way around her and held her tightly. Kara closed her eyes, rested her chin on his shoulder, and thanked the gods with every spark of faith left in her that they had seen fit to give her her best friend back.
"All right, Adama," she said, pulling back and then stepping back, missing the contact but determined to work with the distance for a while. She sat down on the floor, her back comfortably against the podium, and gave him a cocky grin. "What sorts of scandalous things happened aboard my ship while I was down on that rock?"
"Starbuck, Starbuck." He smiled and sat down too, crossing his legs. She took advantage of this and planted her own feet squarely in his lap. "You are such a gossip."
She rolled her eyes and beat her heels against his ankles, once, commanding. "Spill, Apollo."
It wasn't exactly how she'd imagined they'd spend the evening – in fact, it wasn't even close – but just sitting there rediscovering the ways in which they fit, beyond the physical, was the most fun she'd had in weeks. Lee wound out the dreary months aboard two skeleton ships into a story of pointless tiny personal things that filled miniscule holes in her, holes she hadn't even been aware of until the details slid home and brought her closer to being herself.
Some of his observations were so wicked that she found herself laughing again, and shifting the angle of her body away from the podium so that she could punch him in the arm. She had just calmed down completely when Lee leaned closer, gave her a look so serious that her breath caught, and said: "So, do you want to try that again?"
She dissolved helplessly and must have done something or said something in between the giggles that was enough of an affirmation for Lee, who lunged forward and kissed her as though she wasn't trying to laugh out of that mouth; as though they'd done it a million times.
Kara made an undignified sound as his weight threw her off balance and she fell back onto the floor, and they were still laughing a little, and it was messy and crazy and wonderful and not awkward in the slightest.

Date: 2011-01-01 07:39 am (UTC)In fanfic, I don't think I could choose an ultimate favorite but I was just rereading Cag's girl by Inara84 the other night and I loved the last kiss Lee and Kara had:
"So I hear, you're my girl?" Lee said breathlessly, he meant to say it in an air of confidence, it came out unsure.
Kara looked at him, still reeling from the kiss, she saw him, probably for the first time, he really let her see him, vulnerable and real. She reached her hand up to his jaw, looked straight into his deep blue eyes and said "I'm the CAG's Girl, so I'm yours" she kissed him, possessively so he knew unequivocally that she was his and he was hers.
As the water got cold, Lee and Kara heated each other.

Date: 2011-01-03 01:07 pm (UTC)And then I remembered that kissing is HIGHLY taboo in Indian society and realised I would have to be really careful browsing this site. I fear pics of our favourite pilots from our favourite scenes would horrify those around me.
What I wouldn't give for the chance to read fic, or watch Unfinished Business right now! My kingdom, for a laptop!
All the same: I'm with the masses on this one. The Six of One brig kiss blows all other canon kisses out of the water.
As for fic, even though it's not steamy, the one that stays in my mind (the whole story is amazing) is the kiss at the end of We're Not Friends, when Kara jumps in to the ring to hug Lee after he wins his fight. The whole image of that kiss and the resolution it gives to the story was memorable.
