Yesterday was songfic. Today, let's talk about crossovers!

1. Is there a universe other than BSG where you think that Kara and Lee have a better chance? Or even just work really well?

2. Is there a crossover between non-BSG Katee and Jamie characters that you'd really like to see? Martin Klar from Dollhouse and Sarah Corvus from Bionic Woman? Sherry from White Noise 2 and Stephen from Pulse 2? For me, I'm working on a fic for Frankie Reed from CSI and Matt Devlin from L&O|UK. ;)

I love AUs and crossovers. It's so wonderful when you find one where the parallels really work, where you seem to *recognize* the characters in their different setting - the reader gets a combination of surprise and familiarity that is unique to that kind of writing, I think. I'm always excited when an author combines two universes that I love. "First Impressions," the Pride & Prejudice AU, is one of my favorites, just beautifully written with so many details that ring true.

I toy with a lot of AU ideas, and eventually I might even finish some of them. I've been tinkering with a Batman AU for ages which makes me laugh a lot; Lee is Nightwing (the sidekick/son who has graduated into an independent hero but who still has some serious daddy issues), and Kara is a mixture of Catwoman and The Huntress (messed up childhood, sometimes on the wrong side of the law, but with a driving sense of justice and decency and a gift for beating all the Bats at their own games).





I've also been thinking about trying to set a BSG AU in the world of The Iliad. I haven't gotten very far with it yet, but I had fun casting the two sides of the war and I've thought of a few plot twists that might be fun. Just for the heck of it, here's my current cast list:

Trojans:
Leander Hector (Lee)
Priam Adama (Bill)
Laura Niobe (Roslin)
Gaius Paris (Baltar)
Ginevra Helen (Gina/Six)
Nestor Saul (Tigh)

Achaeans (Greeks):
Charis Achilles (Kara)

Blind Tireseus (hybrid)

It would be a Kara/Lee story, of course, all the more interesting in that Achilles and Hector fight on opposing sides, and of course in the original epic Achilles kills Hector quite horribly. I intend to have some fun with all that. And I just love the opening image of the Greek ships pulling up onto the Trojan shore, and the masthead on the prow of the flagship is a black winged horse carved in wood -- The Pegasus, come to claim the captive woman (Gina) who had been stolen from them.

Anyhow, it's just fun to imagine our heroes in different worlds, and to find that you still know them no matter where they turn up :)
