Here's How to Play

1) You leave a comment [let's call it a stocking] below, with a list of things you like (certain pilot scenes, favorite colors, memorable quotes, etc.).

2) People fill your stocking by responding to your comment with compliments, love, comment!fic, icons, holiday greetings, funny graphics, pretty pictures, bawdy limericks, etc. Basically anything they think you'll like.  


Pretty easy, right? We thought this might be a nice way to be able to do something quick and fun with the fandom for the holidays especially for those folks who didn't have time for a bigger exchange, etc. It only takes a few seconds to leave someone a lovely comment they can enjoy, but hey if you're suddenly inspired to comment!fic it up or make a funny macro, MORE'S THE BETTER! Ask your qs in the first post!


ETA: Well originally we were going to try to do something fancy like screening comments so there would be a Christmas Day reveal, but logistics proved to be more than the Taragel could handle there. SORRY! Now it's just a wide open thread! HAVE FUN! (You can still post anon if you want to be crafty and "reveal" yourself later.)

Well let me get this show on the road.

My favorite episode is Unfinished Business, both aired and extended. Loved the extended brig scene in Six of One, both memorial wall scenes (Maelstrom & Islanded), and Under the Wing as well. Of course what's not to like about the two big reunion scenes in Home I and HTBIM? :)

Taragel's Stocking

Hi! I am super duper easy when it comes to pilots! I LIKE EVERYTHING. Heh. But I am partial to happy, laughing pilots I must say. Favorite scenes? Whoo difficult. I love the Home Kiss. I love The Captain's Hand ending. I love the UB flashbacks. I love every pilot moment in S4 and S4.5 with the exception of the poof. (But I also love scenes where they are just friends--early S2, Under the Wing, the end of Scar, the Razor deleted.)

My favorite non-pilots things about BSG are: the sense of family amongst the crew in the early seasons, Chief when he's being awesome and funny and not scary/violent (Chief on Kobol? Rocked the house), Crashdown (because I adore Sam Witwer for other fannish pursuits), Helo...because he's frakking Helo man!, Oh and Showboat. Someone give awesome Marcia Case something to do, would ya?

When it comes to colors, I like rainbow-colored anything (Way to not make a decision self!) and after that blue and yellow are my favorites. Bright, bold colors delight me (I am so not an earth tones kind of girl). I also have a strong but tragic affection for sparkly things.

Lately I have a real weakness for crossovers and I always love crack. When it comes to fic, banter is my fave thing ever. Academy fic or just pre-mini at all is always a joy.

I feel as though I am doing a crap job giving ideas. What else... The song Gravity by Sara Bareilles (the live/acoustic version) really reminds me of pilots.

Like most writers (vidders, etc.), I'm a bit of a comment whore, so if you wanted to tell me things about my stuff, that's pretty awesome.

I'm totally a Kara girl. I love Lee too, partly as an extension of Kara and partly for himself, but Kara is my first love and the reason I keep coming back.

I love the "Daddy" issues they both have (mostly Lee on this one) and I love that they, at the same time, have the "best buds" vibe, and the "soul mates" vibe, and the "quarrelling siblings" vibe. (At the same time! How do they do that?)

I love the half-twisted competitive relationships both have with Bill. The family you're born with vs. the family you choose, totally.

As much as I love that Kara is a feminist hero and breaks all the stereotypes I love pilot!babies. I don't know why this is. I feel as a feminist I should be vaguely ashamed of this, as if I am trying to turn Kara from a kickass individual into a SAHM - but in my defence it might just be that I want proof a woman can be both! (well, I don't think Kara would stay at home. More likely Lee would. And I also want to disclaim that I don't believe "kickass individual" and "stay at home mother" are mutually exclusive concepts - I was just trying to draw a contrast. And I am just tying myself in knots here, LOL.)

Umm, eps. EoJ is one of my favourites. It's the angst that gets me - unlike some, I actually love that stuff! The tragic futility of: "So I won't divorce and you won't cheat. Where does that leave us?" "Trapped." gets me every time. I am a Shakespeare fangirl, so tragedy is my middle name. (Though I have my limits; angst that has no resolution or tragedy that is completely senseless *cough*poof*cough* does not amuse me.)

Umm, what else. I like graphics but I am more verbal than visual. Icons made for me would be cool though - I have heaps of spaces!

As you might guess from this comment, I am kind of rambly. I love thinky!thoughts, so if you have any theories of the meaning of life, pilots and everything, I would love to hear them.

Comments on my works are also welcome, that goes without saying. ;)

Comment!fic would be awesome on a stick. Don't care what it's about but the ramble above might give you some inspiration! Also love banter and wordplay.

What else... oh, songs! 'Jesse's Girl' reminds me of the Kara/Zak/Lee triad - with the added awesome coincidence of Rick Springfield actually being the original Zak. (I kid you not, this is true!)

Hi you all! First thing, this idea is all kinds of lovely! I have a lot of RL stuff going on right now and I can’t participate in fandom as much as I’d love anymore, but I am going to try to come back with some stuff to fill your stockings :) Ok, pilots? I’d say I am a Kara girl in the sense that I always saw the show through her eyes, but I must admit that I love Lee like crazy –how not? ;). I love everything about pilots, but especially their buddycops and BFF’s vibe, their chemistry and UST (they are sexy as hell together!)… and yes, the angst. I am an angst whore, sorry –and I love bittersweet pilots.

My favorite BSG ep is UB, and I adore UBEX too. I love their fight in KLGI, it turned me to a hardcore K/L shipper. I love every single Lee and Kara interaction in the “Home”, “Resurrection Ship” and the mutiny story arcs. Also, I *adore* their scenes in "Scar" and oh, yes, their scene in EoJ and the Daybreak flashbacks. My favorite pilot!moment is probably the brig scene.

Let’s see, what else. I love anything pre-mini (especially if it involves Zak and deals with Kara and Lee’s forbidden attraction, hee). I love naughty, sexy pilots and I have a kink for rough sex and infidelity. And I am really enjoying any sort of AU stuff lately.

Also, favorite pilots songs... "The Special Two" by Missy Higgins, "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles and "You and Me" by Lifehouse.

Graphic stuff and fanmixes always made me happy. Comment!fic would super awesome, too. The thing I love the most about pilots is the shippers, though, so any sort of lovely comment, thinky!thoughts or just a “merry X-mas” would be really appreciated. See? I am that easy ;) Merry X-mas! <3

Things I like... PILOTS! Is that too vague? It is? Hmm...

I want fixes for Christmas. I want Lee to stop Kara from leaving the bunk room in Scar. Or hold his frakking tongue until after the sexytime, then press her for what's wrong. I want Kara to not frak Baltar on Colonial Day (I think you know what I really want here). I want Lee to ground Kara in Maelstrom. I want Lee to leave Dee in TAB. In summary, comment!fic would make my season merry and bright. They don't need to be long. :)

Also, if I am to be completely honest here, KINK, please! I like kinky pilots who hook up (leaving Lee always wondering what it is between them - oh teh ahhhngst!). I <3 super-secretly together pilots. I'm a sucker for premini indiscretions. MOAR P0RN!

First of all, this is a wonderful idea, Tara!!!

Let's see. I love Kara. I am a Kara girl first and foremost, but I love Lee too and am super defensive of him. Because no one loves Lee. Lol. At least in bsg fandom at large. I'm mildly obsessed with Kara's mental health because I work in the mental health field lol. I didn't even realize I was a pilots shipper until the year that baltar's hair ate and I yelled at the screen when I found out she had married Sam.

I love how they are everything to each other... Friends, family, star-crossed lovers.

Other than Pilots, I love the cylons. I do. I'm also a Caprica fan and love stories that bridge both canons and am working on one of my own. And am bothering a friend to go through with a fic idea that Lacy Rand is Zarek's mother.

Outside of BSG my primary fandom is Whedon. I love crossovers. In terms of music my favorite artist is Vienna Teng with a current obsession with My Chemical Romance.

What do I love???

I love all things pilot-y I love cute!pilots, I love fluffy!pilots, I love angsty!pilots and I adore angry but make up-y!pilots but I out and out yumtastic the porny!pilots cause happy pilots are pilots that are getting some for Christmas!

This is super duper awesome and I'm going to try to do a lot for it--but does anyone else think "stuff my stocking" sounds horribly horribly dirty? Just excuse me, here, in the gutter.


My stocking:

I'm pretty sure Kara Thrace makes the world go round. I love her much too much and am very protective of her. Even when I know she does something wrong and stupid and all sorts of terrible, if someone says something about her not being perfect, I tend to rear back and give them hell, because apparently I feel they just don't get her like I do. That said, what make Kara so interesting are all of her flaws, all of the bad decisions she makes, and yet all of the ways that in the end, she's not just living for herself.

I love a fun intoxication--I think Kara would tend to be very giggly.

I love the idea of Kara being petulantly reluctant to admit things: that Lee's right, that he did an awesome job flying, that she loves him, etc etc.

Ooh, and I love Helo. I love K/L/H but I also just love Helo as Kara's friend. I think he grounds her, and she needs that.

I don't have any K/L icons, I just realized.

Lastly, if the song "Kiss With A Fist" by Florence and the Machine is not essential K/L, I don't know what is.

Actually, I pretty much love everything with Kara and Lee together, except for the bunk room scene with Sam. I hated the Sam and Dee story lines, oh and fat Lee. Ugh. And the almost frak on the dinner table made me cringe too. But I digress.. Most of all, I think I like the could have beens. This is why I love fanfic. Of the older stories, the ones written while BSG was still on the air, I love missing scene stories. The ones that feel 100% in character, attempting to explain motivations of the characters, what was going through their heads. What happened just before or just after what we just saw. That's how my brain works and I find myself lingering over scenes, which is why I like to read other people's interpretations I guess.

I have a soft spot for Academy fiction. Other than AU, that's the one period when non-angsty Kara/Lee feels possible. I love banter. Flirty banter even more. In my mind Kata and Lee are equals, that's one of the things that makes them special, so stories that treat them as equals get my love. Most baby fics end up painting a super soft Kara that doesn't ring true to me, so those I find hard. What else? Sexy pilots work too :) And since I really need my pilots to be in character, angst seems to frequently be in the mix too.

Songs... Pink's Glitter in the Air makes me think of Kara, thinking of Lee. This performance at the Grammys where Pink is sorta flying seems Starbuck worthy outrageous - in a good way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3stsDXki__U

This fandom (admittedly my first) is so prolific with so much talent, I keep coming back daily for your presents. So tonight I wanted to raise my glass to you all and say thank you!

Happy holidays, everyone! I'm actually about to head off on holiday without my computer for a few days, but when I get back I'll be sure to come and enjoy whatever you may leave in my stocking :)

I'm a Lee fangirl. My favorite episodes include Bastille Day, Home I&II, Scar, Maelstrom, Crossroads, Six of One, Revelations, and The Oath/Blood on the Scales.

I love poetry. I like romance with a touch of restraint. I love to listen to my favorite characters in conversation. For images, my favorite eras for Lee are Pegasus through Captain's Hand in Season Two and Crossroads through about Revelations in Season Four. For Kara and Lee together, it's hard to beat Islanded, but I also love them in Six Degrees of Separation, Colonial Day, Home, Resurrection Ship II, Captain's Hand, and anti-mutinying together in The Oath.

I love Kara and Lee's friendship and the moments when they show how deeply they care.

Anyhow, that's all rather vague, I know, but I'll be happy to hear from you, even if you just say hello :)

I love every single scene Lee and Kara had together, especially with those with long, heartfelt stares, or warm hugs or hot kisses. I love reading or seeing their friendship and their love for one anothere. I love angst but with a happy ending. I love pilots' banter.

I'll probably be a little late with my presents because I'll be leaving tomorrow for Christmas and won't be anywhere near a computer till Sunday. But I wish you all a merry, merry Christmas!!!!!!
