[identity profile] aurora-0811.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
The posting rules are simple.
  • You can only post reactions and dialog for your chraracter
  • Give others a chance to respond (If it takes too long, I'll try and jump in and move things along w/out trying to do too much altering to the character)
That's it!  I know this may or may not work and if it doesn't then at least we tried.  Also, we sadly have no Adama or Roslin so if you want to write appearances by them then go for it....they are the wild card characters open to anyone. For now let's say they are both in sickbay and Doc Cottle is getting Adama patched up post fight.

Some people won't be around until later tonight so try to remember that!  Our Starbuck might be modded a bit by Tara until Ray gets home so that we can keep pilots in motion.  To get the game going I'm going to post as a deckhand (so excuse the poor writing skills please)

We start our game at the very end of UB.  Starbuck and Apollo are laying bloodied and battered on the mat of the boxing ring.  Slowly the crowd starts to thin out and all the crew can talk about is Maj. Adama and Capt. Thrace.  The whispers and theories about what happened so long ago on New Caprica to cause their rift echo off the bulkheads.  Finally Col. Tigh steps out of the ring and orders everyone but the knuckledraggers off the deck and for them to get it back to combat ready status.  It’s 15 minutes later, the bleachers are stacked, tables are stowed and the only thing left to dismantle is the ring but Starbuck and Apollo are still laying in it.  The deck gang is trying to decide who is going to be the one to say something to them….

ETA:  Rooms are added, if there is any place you specifically want to work from let me know. I'm adding an OOC comment at the end so put all your comments, needs or questions there....i figure its best to have it all in one place.

EDIT 11:30PM EST:  Hey everyone!  Thanks so much for joining in, we've started it a bit and kind of established where everyone is.  We've been discussing keeping this going for a few days and posting jumps ahead and what not in the coming days.  Please continue to add anything into this thread, make your character interact in the established places or if you want to start a new "room" just let me know.  Tomorrow there will be a post about continuing the story.  Thanks again for all your patience while we figure it out, I hope you enjoy playing and reading!

Kara shook her head. "No. He didn't rape me. He wouldn't have enjoyed that." It made her stomach churn to know that she understood the sick son of a bitch so well. Then again, you listen to someone babble at you about all sorts of bullshit and you're bound to pick up on a few things. "He wanted me, but he wanted me to come to him."

She wanted to pull her hand away from Lee, didn't want to be touched right now, but his grip was tight. In some ways, though, it was grounding. "He was insane, Lee. Every day... all he talked about was destiny... that I was going to love him... and no matter how many frakking times I killed him he always came back."

Frak. That frakking bastard. Lee rubbed his free hand over his mouth. He didn't know what to say. What could he say that could possibly help, that would make any difference at all?

She killed the frakking toaster six godsdamned times. It was in her report. Over how many months? And how many other times did she try and fail? How many days did he have her locked up, listening to his crazy tirades? Having to pretend to play frakking house with that monster? Gods, just the thought of it made his blood boil.

And it was all his fault. He was the one who'd insisted to his father that they leave when the cylons invaded. It was the right thing to do, after all. Think about it and come up with a plan, gear up for the fight before rushing in and endangering both battleships.

And if it left behind one infuriating problem pilot who'd broken his heart, so much the better, right? She'd made her bed, and she could lie in it. That's what he'd thought at the time. A wave of disgust roiled through him. Only it hadn't been her bed he'd left her to, after all.

And worse, if it had been up to Lee, they never would have returned. He would have left her there, with that sick bastard, forever.

He slipped out of his chair, turning and crouching in front of Kara so he could look directly into her eyes. "Kara, I'm... I'm so, so sorry. It's my fault."

Kara scoffed and rolled her eyes, that was Lee, ready to shoulder all the burdens in the world, about equal parts foolish and sweet. "Right. You made the order to jump away. I made the decision to move down there. We could throw blame back and forth all frakking day, Lee. It's not going to change anything. Believe me, I tried."

For the first time since she'd arrived back on Galactica she felt... lighter. Maybe there was something to that whole talking thing after all, letting out some of that burden she'd been carrying with her for so long, refusing to tell anyone what had happened because it didn't matter, it didn't change anything. She hadn't told Karl, hadn't told Sam... hadn't spoken to Lee in months but somehow, he was the only one who could get it out of her.

She leaned forward in her seat, suddenly realizing how fatigued she was. Between the dance and the whole emotional outpouring thing, she was absolutely exhausted and unsure of where to go from there. "So, anything else you want to interrogate me about, sir?"

There was. He had a million questions. But Lee could see the exhaustion written all over her face. And he was feeling it too.

So he got to his feet and tugged Kara up with him, wrapping his arms around her once more. Nothing was settled, of course, but there'd already been a couple miracles tonight. He wasn't about to push his luck and ask for another.

He kissed Kara again, long and slow and soft, just because he could. "Dismissed, Captain. On one condition," he paused, smiling. "You meet me for lunch tomorrow."

Kara reveled in the kiss. She knew it was wrong--the way things were right now, they didn't belong to each other--but nothing had felt so right in a long time. So, Kara smiled back, throwing him a lazy salute. "Yes, sir."

She left the ready room, heading towards the pilots bunk and hoping to all the Lords of Kobol that Sam hadn't decided to come by. She'd had enough big conversations for one day, and truth be told she knew exactly what her next conversation with Sam was going to be about.

Because she hadn't given Lee her answer earlier, but she knew the answer already. There wasn't going to be an affair. For once in her life something was going to go right, godsdamnit. Even if it killed them both.

Lee watched her go, then sank back down into a chair. He shouldn't feel like this...so...happy. But he was. Even if things were a mess. Even though nothing had really been settled with Kara, and he still had to talk to Dee.

He winced. She was a good woman, and he'd never meant to hurt her. He didn't like to think he was the sort of man who would take his marriage lightly. He'd thought for sure, he'd be able to forget, to work Kara out of his system. But this bond between them was incontrovertable. He had to stop denying it. Whether he and Kara ever got their shit together or not, it wasn't fair to be with Dee and wish he was with someone else.

Lee pulled himself out of the chair and headed over to the hatch, shutting the lights off in the ready room. He took a deep breath, feeling excitement stir in him for the first time in a long time, as he stepped over the threshold. He was ready to face the future, come what may.
