Worst Pilots Dialogue Ever:

Although amaliak mentions the dialogue from the episode whose name I only know in acronym :P, I actually want to say that for me, it's the scene in "Lay Down Your Burdens" when Kara is making out with Sam, because while I was OK (at that point) with Kara/Lee being over as a 'ship, "The Captain's Hand" had made me think they were at least still friends. And that scene was so UNPLEASANT and I was embarrassed for both of them (and I think Sam was kind of embarrassed too.) I know Kara was drunk but ... yeesh. I hate that scene. It still makes me cringe!

Best Pilots Dialogue:

Well, obviously the end of UB. But I'm very partial to three other scenes: In "Resurrection Ship" - the conversation about trust, starting with Kara saying that she understands if Lee feels he can't back her up and ending with the hug; the scene under the wing in "Maelstrom." It's sad and tragic and heartbreaking, but I still love it so; and last, but not least, the scene by the wall in "Islanded in a Stream of Stars", although that's not really a dialogue, because Kara doesn't say anything - she just stands there and looks unearthly beautiful! But I choose to interpret her silence as expressing her unconditional love for Lee :P

Best Lucky Moment Lee: Lee has had a ton of lucky moments where someone else has saved his life or given him the opportunity to save his own. He’s lucky every time Kara saves him, he’s lucky Billy saved him by getting shot at *twice* (in “Sacrifice” and in “Valley of Darkness”), he’s lucky the Raptor found him before his suicide proved successful in RS Part Two, he’s lucky that conveyor tunnel in Hand of God didn’t wind up trapping and killing him. But I think Lee also makes his own luck by keeping cool under pressure and taking very intelligent risks. My favorite instance of Lee making his own luck:

Best Kara Lucky Moment: Kara also makes her own luck, to a large extent, both good and bad. This is my favorite example – finding the ship intact was a gift, but what she did with it was all her own resourcefulness.

Best Character Trait Kara: Selfless courage, love, compassion, and endurance. There are a ton of examples, but this quiet one moves me.

Best Character Trait Lee: Judging keenly and perceptively and standing up for what he thinks is right while retaining his loyalty and love for those who differ from him.

I know! Thanks for that cap, Lee makes me melt there. That ready room scene is off-the-charts with the two of them and their effortless chemistry. I love it :) It's just cool how they spark off each other without particularly trying to, even when the scene is really not about the two of them or their relationship.

There's a famous quote about the British Empire being acquired "in a fit of absence of mind." I love how, when the writers forget to angst them up, that absence of mind leaves room for their totally natural tangential awesomeness to spring up.

Best Character Trait Kara: Her ferocious defense of what she loves; her loyalty; and in earlier seasons, her sheer joie de vivre

Best Character Trait Lee: His questing personality - I think he doesn't accept the status quo JUST because it's the way things have always been done. He is able to think of a third way when it seems there are only two sides. Aside from his personal relationships, Lee is a clear-eyed person and I respect that. And, of course, his deep and abiding love for Kara, as destructive and self-destructive as that sometimes has been.

Best Kara dialogue (any) - I don't think of Kara as being particularly wordy but I do love her "bright shiny future" lines in "Scar" because she's opening up about herself in a way that she rarely does.

Best Lee dialogue (any) - OK, I love the "Crossroads" speech, but I think my favorite Lee line is quite simple: when D'Anna says "all this has happened before" and Lee responds "but it doesn't have to happen again." That was a moment that I adored (and I sure wish the show had backed up Leland Adama there!!)

Best Conversation between pilots - oh, gosh, either it's "The Captain's Hand" at the end, or it's under the wing in "Maelstrom" because I just have this sense that they really, REALLY get each other.

Best Pilot Scene - Since I've already picked some dialogue-heavy ones before, I have to go for one of the ones where they work together - and I'm going to be a maverick and pick the mutiny scene with the guns and the hand-grenade and the two of them as someone (maybe Jacob on TWOP?) stalking the corridors of Galactica like lions! But also, because I am a harsh mistress - I actually LOVE the scene in UB when Lee finds out that Kara has just married Sam. The looks on their faces! OH MY HEART! SO AWESOME!!!

Best Pilot Story Arc - the arc that starts with "Scar" and ends with "The Captain's Hand" (or, really, i guess it starts with Kara calling out Lee's name in KLG and ends with "The Captain's Hand" where they come back to the place where they are friends and love each other.)

I really agree about the Captain's Hand and Maelstrom conversations, and I am also totally with you in loving the Scar to Captain's Hand pilots arc (though unhappy with the Lee/Dee arc).

As for Lee, I don't know if there's any dialogue, but I do remember how much I loved that, after Kara goes missing and Lee and Adama are frantic with worry, Lee still takes the moment to pin the Viper wings on Hot Dog that he earned by staying to back Kara up. It's this little understated lovely moment.

Also for fun Lee/Kara dialogue, I must say the thing with the grenade (someone help me out with actual dialogue here?) is wonderful. "YOu would think it was funny if you did it." Hee!

I think it's great, especially because as initially scripted their roles were going to be reversed, but RDM changed it because he thought it was inherently more fun to let Lee be the sneaky one :)

I hadn't heard RDM changed it around. I'm glad he did; he did so poorly by Lee (and Jamie) that's it's really nice he managed to give us a good Lee moment.
