DPP: Rewatch Discussion (Now with 100% more Poll!)

Greetings and salutations, 'shipper nation! This is Amy, known on your internets as [Poll #1639725]Feel free to use the comments of this post to debate the merits of a do-over (seasons 4.0/4.5? They don't exist) versus the completionist watch-the-rest-of-the-series-because-even-bad-endings-matter POV. Or anything else rewatch-related you want to bring to the table.

I'd like to get through the rest of the series, but I'm also happy to start over if that's the decision.

Can you add a question or make a new poll that asks people if they want to start over or continue? I'm not sure that was captured. Or maybe that's a decision for later? Or already made? :D:D

Nothing's set in stone yet, so we can certainly poll for starting point before we get a schedule together. I began with the option to restart just to get a discussion going. I'll do another poll later to ask what episode to start on. Really, I was just trying to lure people in, since so few of us had been watching last go 'round. Personally, I'll watch from any point.

My attendance has always been sporadic at best, but I've always liked the rewatches in theory and every once in awhile in practice. So if you continue, I can't say my attendance will be any more reliable than it was before, but I'd like to see them start up again anyway. And I'd like to continue with season 4. I just think it defeats the point of a rewatch if we abandon the party part-way through. I know there are rough patches in season 4, but isn't the point to be finding the good behind the bad and reclaiming the show and all that jazz? Also, I've rewatched the first two seasons and I've never rewatched the fourth season. So there's my vote.

I really enjoy the rewatches, although I don't comment much. 7PST is not the best for my RL and I usually watch on my computer, but I do enjoy the discussion.

You are a goddess for offering to restart the rewatches. I was just thinking about touching base with Cosette/Bee/Tara about that the other day...but you are less of a slacker than I and actually DID it!! Hooray!!

I am completely in for chat +/- rewatch on any nights I'm not working. I will try to be strong if people want to watch 4/4.5 but I dunno how much I can take. (I've never rewatched them so who knows.) I love kdbleu's idea to do "best of" rewatches to keep morale and attendance up while doing 4/4.5. I'm also happy to host "best of" watches (eagerly looks back at S1 with glee)...or rewatches once we get through the end and back to S1/2. I don't think it's wise for me to host for S4/4.5 though...shipperdom is my happy place. ;)

I'm in! My attendance has been problematic due to my timezone too, so I mightn't be there every week - but I did enjoy the ones I attended and would love to host one!

Scheduling is the big problem for me, being half a day ahead of most of you! When we switched to Thursday-only rewatches I couldn't come at all and that really made me sadface. Since your evening is my morning I can only come Friday-Sat nights.

As for restarting, I kinda would like to finish out the series too. I haven't rewatched a lot of season 4 and like the idea of a support group when I do!

Being in Australia, timezones make this really tricky for me- though I would love to see what you all do for these re-watch things! What exactly does a rewatch entail? Do you guys talk via live chat, or post here on the community discussion?

We "chat" in the comments of a rewatch post. Sometimes things are moving so fast with multiple conversations that it's hard to keep up, but that's what I like about it. Here's the post from Eye of Jupiter (http://community.livejournal.com/no_takebacks/89667.html), as a for instance.
