[identity profile] ninjamonkey73.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks

Greetings and salutations, 'shipper nation! This is Amy, known on your internets as [info]ninjamonkey73, and I'm driving the DPP bus this week. Sit back and enjoy the ride...

What continues to amaze me in this fandom is the breadth of active BSG communities. To ease into the week, I thought it might be nice if we took a minute or two to pimp our favs.

My new obsession is icon-making. Have you heard about the new Lee-centric icon community, [livejournal.com profile] iconic_lee? You could do a lot worse than staring at images of Jamie Bamber all day! We're just a few weeks into things over there, but the pretty is just mind-numbing... Er, where was I headed with this? Don't know, don't care. Go. Look at teh pretty. You know you want to. We'll wait.

What about you? Do you have a favorite BSG haunt? It doesn't have to be at LJ. Is there a great screencap site you get your material at? A video collection or other media site? Somewhere you go to get your kink fix? Pimp away...

But that's the problem! No one ever comments.

I'm thinking of shutting it down to be honest. :(

Oh no! Don't do that!!!! I love that comm. I personally don't comment because I have my own peculiar way of K/L shipping and I just don't want to get into long drawn out discussions with people mostly because my opinions tend to be pretty different. That might sound like chickening out, but I just don't want to end up in a heated debate with anyone, so I just stay away from commenting. I actually do that on all the comms that I watch, even this one. I comment on goofy, cracky, fun posts.

Don't take down the comm T. Seriously. It would be a sad, sad thing to do. We need our Kara comm and your posts are always so intriguing!

But it's not a shipping comm. It's a comm about Kara.

I'd like to think we could all talk about her and her exploits without dragging the men into it or that if/when we do it's because they're tangential but necessary to discussion and we can all be polite about it.

But maybe that's not the case. :(

Honestly, the lack of response there really bums me out and it's hard for me to look forward to posting things there, rather than just viewing it as a daily chore.

Do you ever invite guest mods as you do here at No_Takebacks? My week here at DPP was loads of fun to put together. It might give you a break and lure in new readers at the same time. I'll have to admit I've popped by karathracelives, but in the few times I commented I never received any responses, so I just kind of got out of the habit. *shrugs* My bad I suppose.

I don't know why people don't crosstalk there. It's kind of odd to me. I also feel like I will overwhelm the discussion sometimes if I'm always the one to be commenting/talking so I try to refrain from that because I don't want it to feel like MY LJ. You know? Maybe that's not the right tack to take...

I have asked a few times about other people posting, setting up a schedule.... no interest. :(

Hmmm... tell me if you need a week off sometime. And I'll make a concerted effort to get over there and participate, T.

*iz guilty of comm laziness*

I think I'll probably make a longish "State of the comm" kind of post tomorrow to discuss the lack of participation, my fading enthusiasm, what people want out of the comm, etc. I'll bring up the idea of guest hosting again as well as dropping it down to be less-than-daily (although I think even less posts would mean less participation possibly, because you have a smaller chance of hitting someone's flist at the right time, etc.)

Awww, I'm sorry to hear that the comm is turning into a chore for you :( Maybe it could something you post on once or twice a week? I really enjoy the 'meta' questions that you ask and I try to respond to those (at length :P) I'm just super-busy at the moment so sometimes it takes me a while to respond (and even longer to respond to a response to my response!)

But please don't force yourself to do something that's supposed to be fun!

Maybe. Although something in me dislikes having to downgrade to a few times a week when there should be plenty of things to discuss about such an active and dynamic character. The intractable part of me and the part that hates to give up on things, probably means I'll keep it going anyway, just bums me out that people have so little to say about her.
