The winners for each category  - along with their virtual Oscars - have been placed under the cuts below.

Our presenters for the event?  Why Lee and Kara of course!

 

Lee's suit is a grey Burberry number while Kara is dressed in Givenchy haute couture.  Special nods to coffeesuperhero for working as stylist for our two stars.  They look FANTASTIC! 

THANK YOU also everyone who came out and voted!  We had forty-nine people members of the Kara / Lee Academy cast their ballots, the last two votes coming in mere minutes before I closed the polls.  .

I’ve had an AMAZING time hosting the Oscar week countdown, but YOU are the reason it was so successful.  Special thanks go out to nazkey and sci_fi_shipper who spent endless amounts of time walking me through this DPP process.  And a HUGE shout out to the fangirls on twitter who kept me laughing as I stayed up late into the night posting.  You guys ROCK!

This will be the last post of the week.  Unlike the other Oscars, I won’t be rushing people offstage...  Take your time, and enjoy this final post of the week.

Wow! Thank you Shipper Nation! There are so many people that had a part in these fics, and really these wins are theirs too. First, I have to thank our stars, the indefatiguable and highly athletic Kara Thrace and Lee Adama who always go the extra mile--and then some. We all would not be here tonight if they were not so lovable (and let's face it, totally frakked up) as they are. Thanks also go to our host, kag523 whose stamina almost puts pilots to shame! Her enthusiasm and talent are such a welcome addition to fandomland. Next, I have to shoutout to my constant and clever betas, rayruz and thrace_adama, who inspired and encouraged me and kept me on the straight and narrow, as well as all the fangirls who so willingly brainstormed with me, including but not limited to wisteria_, workerbee73, and csm37, whose email support network was instrumental while plotting Academy Pilots. I also need to thank one man, whose utter ineptitude when dealing with the romantic lives of pilots gave birth to hundreds of thousands of words of fic, not just by myself but by all the fine nominees and winners here tonight. That's right, Ron Moore, I thank you for your tremendous FAIL! And last, but absolutely not least, I want to thank all of the fangirls who read and commented and voted for my fic. I am honored and humbled and you're all amazing! Come drink with me at the bar! AMBROSIA FOR EVERYONE! Thank you and goodnight!

I just want to say thank you all so much for this wonderful crack-tastic award! It makes me feel very proud and very victoriously silly. I tend to wear my serious face a lot, so I'm beyond delighted that it was the laughter you most enjoyed sharing with me -- YAY!!

And I'm indebted to all of the nominees and winners and so many more wonderful fans whose amazing talent and creativity has made this such a wonderful community. When I look at the tremendous skill and enthusiasm and love and generosity on display here over the last week, I just hope everyone feels as pleased and proud as I do.

My special thanks to taragel for her wonderful support and encouragement for this Musical, to all those who reviewed it with so much enthusiasm while I was working on it, and to all of you whose insightful discussions on these boards transformed the way I thought - and laughed - about the epic story of Pilots.

In conclusion, I would like to nominate kag523 for a special Oscar -- she kept herself out of the running this time, but we all know what prolific and jawdropping contributions she's made over the last year. I think we have all benefitted not just from her artistry but also from her encouragement and the way she reaches out to others in the fandom. I think she deserves an award for "Best Collaborator," which I intend as the highest praise rather than as something which will get her thrown out an airlock :)

"The Adama Brothers" started its life as a short, simple little late-night piece for bsg_pornbattle, and without your encouragement, it probably would have stayed that way, but thanks to you, I've been able to indulge my love of this little AU for awhile longer. Thank you for reading, for all of the compliments you've given me, for being patient between updates (especially this last long break while I've been stuck in Big Bang land) and for just being the incredible people that you are. *obligatory ogling at how heavy the award is* Lords...I could take a swing at somebody with this thing.

So, this is unexpected, and I'm awkward, so I'm gonna be quick: The past 1-2 years has been the most fun I've ever had in fandom in my 5+ years of fangirling, and that's in no small part because of the K/L community still going strong after all this time. no_takebacks is truly one of the most welcoming places I've ever frequented on the internet and there's a sense of friendliness and encouragement that I think creatively inspires and motivates a lot of us, so I really do feel grateful towards the entire Academy.

I also have to thank flowrs4ophelia for all the reliving of the BSG experience I was able to have when I convinced her to watch the show. And for beta reading at 3 AM. And for reccing me honestly far too often. And for teaching me how to read.

kag523 glances up from the nosebleed section of the Helice Opera House where she is sitting with nazkey and sci_fi_shipper and sci_fi_shipper’s sexy young assistant, Ramone. The four of them have been at the open bar doing shots of ambrosia since the show began, and when the announcement comes, they are completely wasted, and oblivious to the call.

The cameras pans back and forth on the audience trying to locate the wayward nominee. Not sure where she is, they finally settle on Jack Nicholson who is laughing heartily and making comments about Kara’s dress.

“They just called you!” Naz squeals, and jumps up on her seat to wave over the cameras. She wobbles precariously before Ramone drags her back down to the floor.

“What did they just say?” kag523 says, glancing over to where two Oscars attendants are furiously hissing at her to hurry up and follow them.

“I think they just called you!” sci_fi_shipper says, but she is giggling as she says it, as if this is all some sort of inside joke that kag523 has stumbled into. The Oscar music is starting to play out loudly and onstage, Lee is making awkward small talk with the audience.

“So I said to her... ‘everyone’s down here mucking around in the muck’, and then she said...”

Kara pulls the mic from Lee’s hand and leans forward, using her booming drill-instructor voice.

“Where the frak ARE you, kag?! Get your ass up onstage NOW!”

Hearing that, sci_fi_shipper begins laughing loudly and shoves kag from her seat. Blinking like a deer in the headlights of a car, kag begins the long and wobbily march down to the stage. In the audience there are snickers of laughter. kag523 is wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans. She is not dressed for the venue.

When she reaches the steps, kag stumbles once, and Kara reaches over to the stairs, completely exasperated, and pulls her up the last two steps, where kag stands, swaying slightly, between the two hosts. Lee grins and shoves an Oscar into her hand and kag squints to read the title of the award she just won.

“Oh! Best collaborator! Uh, thanks, I guess,” she says, blinking and looking around at the audience. “I didn’t even know I was nominated... so this is... well, a surprise. I guess I should thank whoever came up with this and nominated—”

Distantly, she hears a familiar voice shouting over top of her, interrupting the speech. (‘Must be frakking nazkey,’ she thinks, ‘can’t take that girl anywhere!’) But then the camera swoops in on the speaker, and she sees that it is Caprica Six instead.

“Now, kag... kag...” she begins, in a falsely sympathetic voice, “I’m gonna let you talk, but before you begin, I’ve just got to say GAIUS BALTAR WAS THE BEST COLLABORATOR OF ALL TIME!”

In the audience, there is a sudden rush of hissing and booing and an attendant pulls the mic away from the tall blonde, hustling her out of the audience. The Oscar music surges, drowning out the rest of her words.

Onstage, kag has regained her composure and throws her arms over both Lee and Kara in a sloppily drunken motion, leaning in to shout into the mic at the same time.

“Thanks everyone! It’s an honour!”

Up in the top section of the opera house, there is the distant sounds of screaming. It is nazkey and sci_fi_shipper and Ramone, all of them whooping and cheering, almost inaudible over the blaring ‘get-offstage-now’ music.

“Love you guys!” kag shouts into the mic. “You’re the BEST!”
