This is quite random, but I picked up a bit of trivia recently and I thought I would share it because it made me smile.

1) I never watched the original BSG, but apparently in that show Apollo had *two* siblings, a brother Zak who was killed in the Cylon attack on the Twelve Colonies, and a sister Athena who stayed with them in the fleet :) It's hard to visualize Sharon as Lee's sister, but the idea amuses me!

2) In the novel "Sometimes A Great Notion," there is a character with the rather unusual name "Leland." I have no idea if that's where RDM got the name, but it's a fun coincidence.

3) In the novel Moby Dick, Starbuck's last words are: "My God, stand by me now!" Translated into BSG speak, I like to think that's pretty close to "Don't lose me this time, Apollo!" :)

LOL! I liked Moby Dick, but I had the most awesome English prof ever when I finally got around to reading it. He made everything fascinating. Am thinking of going back to school...I could just take all his classes...except the papers and such were hard as hell...so maybe not the extra stress I need. Maybe I could audit the class. Hmmm. /random

Moby Dick is one of those novels that I enjoy the story and the themes and symbolism, but OMG I cannot read it. I just want to tear my hair out.

Thanks, Rachel! I agree, it is interesting to compare the relationships in the original bsg to the ones in the reimagined one. It almost makes me want to watch one or two of the old epis...almost, but not quite.

I didn't know about #2. That is interesting. I get the feeling RDM is very well read just from little comments or names of epis and such, so I wonder if there's a connection.

Eeeee!! My bffs have Netflix. Don't know if I can convince them to rewatch bsg with me. Even though this is all their fault!!! They got me started watching and then moved on with their lives post-DB while I became obsessively Kara and K/L centered. Hmmph.

What silliness, just moving on. I'm excited because I don't own the series. I don't own any series actually. I use Netflix, instead. But I try not to take over the queue so I've had a one disc at a time rule for a while, but then I want to watch an episode completely out of order and get annoyed. *rolls eyes at self*

Oh, I don't know if I really "own" the series. The bffs "acquired" it and passed it on to me. I guess at this point that counts as ownership?

Agreed about the silliness. Why move on when you can move into LJ and list it as your permanent residence. Rent is cheap too. :P
