It Was Only A Matter of Time
Sep. 24th, 2010 09:42 amFirst some CRACK:
I did a little shopping for parents and baby.
For Baby:

A Diaper Bag for Mama, who will be returning to work as soon as she can:

Something to help the new dad stay awake during those boring Quorum meetings:

Have fun and write crack if you are all inspired. Otherwise, here are some thinky thoughts (that were the original idea for this post before the DPP was overrun with fantastic cracky peeps.)
Thinky Thoughts:
Think about and describe the kinds of parents Kara and Lee would be. What would be their parenting strengths? Weaknesses? What about parenting would send Kara to crazyville or make her cry with joy? How might they discipline? What would they do with a recalcitrant teenager? How would they cope with jobs and raising a family? Would they have one child or many? Go at it, shippers. Let's hear your creative scenarios and thinky thoughts about ANY aspect of parenting you like from childbirth to grandparenting. And if a fic should occur, I would not be displeased. ;)
ETA: There have been some wonderfully creative comment!fics during the past two days of K/L crack. Some are embedded in the comments, but please go back and read (and laugh). Congrats to some new writers who braved the DPP and came up with a fantastic scenario that left our pilots both in hack with a bed, handcuffs, and a soundproof room. I've also heard there is a continuation in the works (Track the comm if you want to see it published.)
The 99 Bottles of Ambrosia game is up to #64. Please contribute and comment. The entries are really lovely and sweet and sad. *HUGS the fantastic shippers*

Crack!Pic (cause I couldn't resist)

Date: 2010-09-24 02:46 pm (UTC)I think Kara and Lee would be kinda neurotic as parents, very hyper aware of their own upbringings and trying so hard not to be their own parents. I think Kara in particular would be more nervous than Lee on this front. I think Lee already had the chance to freak out about becoming his father with Gianne... I think he could see having a baby with Kara as sort of a second chance on that front.
Also, I think that they would good cop/bad cop a cranky teenager. They do it very well, we know.

Date: 2010-09-24 03:43 pm (UTC)"Hey, Race. What's up?"
She turned around, startled, and shoved something pink into her bag. "Nothing. Paperwork."
"Huh. I don't see any papers."
She shrugged, "Yeah, I'm just finished." She stood up and grabbed her bag, pushing out the chair and shoving past him.
When she got to the door, she stopped suddenly, her bag yanking back behind her. She turned around abruptly and caught Helo grinning.
"Paperwork, huh?" Wrapped around his fingers was a length of pink yarn that spanned the entire room before it disappeared into her bag.
"Shut up, Helo." Maggie stomped over to him and tried to grab the yarn out of his hands.
He began to pull the yarn frantically towards him, laughing when two tiny shapes popped out of her bag and fell onto the floor.
"Helo! Now they're dirty!" Bending over, she swiped up the items and shoved them into the bag.
"Knitting booties, Maggie? I though you hated Starbuck and Apollo."
Her face blushed bright red. "Shut up."
She shuffled back over to the hatch, stopping just briefly to look at his grinning face. "If you tell anyone, I'm gonna shove my knitting needles up your ass. And don't think I won't."
Helo ignored her threats and teased her. "Maggie likes babies. Maggie likes babies."
"You're a frakker, Helo."
His laughter followed her down the corridor.

Date: 2010-09-24 04:25 pm (UTC)Whereas Lee would be politely grateful, unless this was after the mutiny, in which case he would be coldly aloof. Wait, though, is it even possible to be coldly aloof about pink baby booties? I guess if anyone could manage dignified hauteur in the face of pastel fuzziness, it would be Lee.
