DPP: Out of Context
Sep. 1st, 2010 08:29 pmSo we've all watched shows, read books, seen movies, heard songs, etc, that made us think of the pilots. Today I want to know: what is the most bizarre, random place that you've suddenly thought of our favorite duo? For me, it's definitely got to be the website "Texts From Last Night". The first one I saw was:
(262): Gfs sis is in town. Its awkwardly obv that we want to fuck each other.
First thought: oh my god, swap the genders and you totally have Starbuck and the Adama brothers. A few other favorites:
(262): Gfs sis is in town. Its awkwardly obv that we want to fuck each other.
First thought: oh my god, swap the genders and you totally have Starbuck and the Adama brothers. A few other favorites:
- (319): True true and the only thing that will burn more than the vodka we will consume is the shame in our loved one's eyes
(847): And yet we make it a tradition to get inappropriately drunk at family functions. We amaze me.
(319): At least it's not a funeral this time... I feel we're making improvements. - (212): btw, your gf is going to want to talk to you today...and consequently you're probably not going to want to talk to me...just a heads up
- (404): i cant believe u jumped in someones trunk just to get out of talking to me
- (860): You are possibly the most enthusiastic, likable bad influence I've ever met.
- (734): Does it really count as two different guys if they're brothers? I like to think of it as one and a half.
I pretty much can't scan the site anymore without finding at least one that I feel could have been from Lee or Kara.
What about you?

Date: 2010-09-02 05:27 am (UTC)A comic book meditation on the importance of having someone you care about to fight beside you:
Alfred: Ever since you were a child, I have seen in you such luminosity of spirit... It was truly almost visible -- some indefinable and yet unmistakable fire at the very core of your being that allowed you to survive and thrive where so many others... [long pause] But now that very spark seems to have vanished from you. I do not know why and I do not know how to help you. But I fear that without it, this life you and Master Bruce lead could well prove... [whisper] unsurvivable.
Richard: Alfred, what are you talking about? Bruce hasn't had any innate inner optimism this whole time, and he'll outlast every one of us!
Alfred: But of course he's had optimism! He has had you.
And this is the Moonlighting meta conversation on romantic UST and angst:
David: “You know how this is supposed to go. You watch the show every Tuesday night. You’re supposed to yell and get angry now.”
Maddie: “I’m not gonna get angry.”
David: “Well, if you’re not gonna get angry, then how are we gonna have an argument?”
Maddie: “We’re not.”
David: “We’re not? Don’t tell me you haven’t stopped to consider the consequences of cutting back on all the angry banter between us? We’re talking serious damage to our relationship, to office morale, to February sweeps! Come on, Maddie...the boxing gloves are out, the money’s on the table and the people want to see blood!”
Maddie: “I don’t feel like arguing.”
David: “So. Just because you don’t feel like arguing, you’re gonna ruin everybody else’s day? Well that sounds pretty selfish, don’t you think? You’re raining on our cloud, Maddie. Come on...No axes to grind? No bones to pick?”
Maddie: “None. It’s a boneless day. So would you mind?”
David: “Actually, I do mind. Is it me? What did I do?”
Maddie: “Believe it or not, there are things that happen in this world that have nothing to do with you.”
David: “You can’t prove that. You don’t know what I do when I’m not in this office.”
Maddie: “David, not arguing is good. I like not arguing. Not arguing is something that most people aspire to.”
David: “But arguing is what we do!”
Maddie: “Our arguments have become a bad habit, that’s all.”
David: “Damn straight. And we can’t just quit cold turkey. We have to withdraw slowly, wean off gradually. A few verbal slurs, an occasional offensive remark.”
Maddie: “David?”
David: “Yes?”
Maddie: “Why are you doing this?”
David: “Because I know when something’s bothering you! I can hear the rumbling. You're about to blow and all it takes is that one extra jolt to make it all come spilling out.”
Maddie: "What makes you think you know me so well? Just because you think something means something doesn't mean what you think it means!"
David: (confused pause) "Well put."
