Hey guys,
So I was going to make a poll because it's shiny and attracts attention, but it really doesn't fit the questions I want to ask. So please stick with me and answer in the comments because feedback=love.
The International Rewatch never really took off like we hoped it might. I love me some artemis and lotus and it's been a blast rewatching and chatting but I feel like it's starting to become a burden rather than a fun activity. It's hard with only three because it's really the minimum needed to have a decent rewatch so no one is able to take a week off...for dinners, work, etc...without cancelling the rewatch for the week. Therefore, I think we've all three decided that the Saturday 11:30am GMT time is no longer functional.
I'm interested in whether you shipper folk feel like continuing this rewatch or just trying again to join up with the larger rewatch since it's likely switching times. If we do continue the International Rewatch (currently on S1, Hand of God), how would you like to proceed?
1) Continue the rewatch as a liveblog at a different time to be discussed in the comments. (If we could find a better time, then potentially this option allows for the continued group squeeing over S1 pilots.)
2) Continue the rewatch but turn it into a weekly meta-type post. (This option allows for more participation and keeps us from abandoning our relatively happy S1 pilots without the schedule demands of a liveblog.) I'm happy to do the weekly posts or it could potentially be part of our DPP postings.
3) Let's stop the International Rewatches, at least for now, and try to find the best possible time for everyone to all finish S2 together and then figure out what to do next. (This option still allows for plenty of International participation in the pilot!love since we've got the DPPs to keep us going even if we can't attend a rewatch.)
----------
(Hopefully you all know I'm chill enough to be happy with whatever but I do have an ill-tempered Kara as my default icon, so I will post a disclaimer just in case: My primary goal here is to help out however possible to keep the shipper torch burning. Thus, I am completely willing to keep hosting International Rewatches if there's an active group of interested shippers. However, I am also perfectly content to "be released from duty" and move on to new and fabulous K/L activities.
Thanks to all in advance for the feedback!! (Artemis and Lotus, I am especially interested in your thoughts, so please post, my dears!)

Date: 2010-03-17 08:08 am (UTC)I just love pilots and I have loved them since the mini but couldn't talk with anyone...then this year I decided to lurk the fandom and I like it, it's calmer than the one I am in :)))

Date: 2010-03-17 01:06 pm (UTC)But yeh, I know what you mean about not being able to take a week off - I feel really bad when I can't make it (or forget like a silly thing) because I feel I've ruined it for you guys.
I would be sad to just jump into the regular rewatch since we haven't finished season one! But at the same time it would be so nice to be included since I always see the posts after the fact and feel a little left out.
So I am easy either way, but Saturday afternoon is getting a little difficult for me since it's sort of become "family time" here - me sitting in front of my computer on LJ for a couple of hours is a bit antisocial, and I am so trying to train myself out of most of my antisocial habits.

Date: 2010-03-17 10:24 pm (UTC)I also agree with you about not wanting to abandon S1, which is why I thought the metas might be the way to go. I need to continue rewatching like a fanatic b/c I do eventually want to try to write fanfic and I just don't feel ready yet. (I'm a perfectionist and I end up comparing my bsg knowledge to Tara's, who is seriously either a) cylon, b) owner of a photographic memory, or c) honestly and completely made of awesome, and I feel so lacking!)
I don't want to muddle up the comm with my random thoughts on pilots, but I figure one epi a week isn't posting any more than we already are for the liveblogs and hopefully you guys will all be able to jump in with thoughts and feedback and squee moments too.
(Completely understand about the Sat afternoon/family issue, it's a bit hard for me too b/c I always feel like I'm ditching you guys right after the show to go to work, which is really when some of the best chatter happens.)

Date: 2010-03-17 02:32 pm (UTC)Before we started the liveblog, Bee was doing meta posts for the rewatches like you suggested in option 2. I think it might be cool to try that--then people people who can't make the liveblog can have a place to chat about rewatch eps, but people who are able to make the liveblog can wander in anytime too.
Now I'm also wondering if maybe mixing up the liveblog day from week to week might help. A Monday one week, a Tuesday the next, etc. 'Cause no matter what day we do it, *someone* can't make it, so it seems unfair to make the day a permanent thing. Also, if we did use a rotating schedule, then maybe even the international shippers could make it every once in a while, like when we do it on a weekend. And we could still do encores for the big eps, like UB... Hmm. What do you think? I'll ask Bee what she thinks of that idea too.

Date: 2010-03-17 11:07 pm (UTC)I'm the same way, I hate for anyone to feel left out. I'm leaning towards option 2 as well. I looked last night quickly and I think Bee and Cosette stopped the metas to start the liveblogs around AoC/YCGHA so starting now with HoG meta would actually fit really well as far as covering all our pilots!episodes. Also, as I mentioned above to lotus, it could be helpful for my ultimate goal of actually writing some K/L fic if I work on the metas...and everyone gets to join in the fun.
The rotating schedule for the liveblogs is an intriguing idea. I like it but I also worry that it will be confusing and we'll lose people b/c the day isn't consistent and thus is easier to forget. Maybe if we could put a sticky thread or something up so everyone knows in advance when we're watching, that would help with the issue of consistency. I also deffo like the idea of encores for big epis...that was a great idea with Home!
Thanks for the feedback; 'tis much appreciated as always!

Awww, thanks, but it really is a labor of love. Pilots came into my life at a very interesting time. I've learned a lot about myself since then. It's corny but whatever. Anyhow, it really is an honor and a pleasure to be part of K/L shipperdom.
