DPP: BSG and Real Life

It's nearly the weekend, and today I thought we could take a walk on the random side....have you ever encountered anything in real life that reminds you of things from BSG? I mean, obviously there is the Greek god and everyone's best-known coffee chain:

but I was recently re-reading Fermat's Last Theorem and found something I couldn't believe I hadn't caught the first time:

I have my special DPP icon... because one night when I reading Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus to my son I started to laugh so hard I couldn't breath because suddenly all I could picture was a crazy pigeon in charge of BSG.

Yeah, pigeons have kind of been ruined for me forever. Like sometimes I really giggle when I see them. The whole thing is just absurd to me, real life pigeons included.

Well...see, I have this private little fantasy world in which the events of BSG really happened.

So Thrace is an area in southeast Europe, which is clearly named for Kara, and the legend of the first man (Adam/Adama) is obviously no coincidence either.

And then the best part is that Kara is a valkyrie in Norse mythology. (Could you GET more appropriate?) Her name means "wild and stormy one," and the legend goes that when she and her love were killed, they were reincarnated and fell in love all over again.(!)

So of course I like to think that this myth comes from Kara and Lee, and that they're both still around somewhere, falling in love over and over again, lifetime after lifetime.

oh YES, I knew of Thrace long before encountering Kara for the first time, but the fact that it's the name of an ancient Greek warrior civilisation is just such a perfect fit for her.

I choose to believe this too, that they got the chance to make up for the life in which they were so badly cheated of the chance to be together. Those chances wouldn't come without angst and pain, but at least they'd get them - I am ALL over this.

Yay! I'm so glad I'm not the only one. It's totally head!cannon for me that Kara and Lee got another chance to be together, either in the next life or in the afterlife that Roslin glimpsed in "Faith".
