How have Pilots impacted the world?

It's got a toehold in academia! Science and Battlestar Galactica, Battlestar Galactica and Philosophy, and that not-scholarly-but-much-more-frequently-read essay collection So Say We All. The academic articles have hilariously fancy titles: "Miss Cylon: Empire and Adoption in Battlestar Galactica"; "'Frakking Toasters' and Jurisprudences of Technology: The Exception, The Subject, and Techne in Battlestar Galactica"; "Rejecting Monotheism?: Polytheism, Pluralism, and Battlestar Galactica"; "Starbuck as 'American Amazon': Captivity Narrative and the Colonial Imagination in Battlestar Galactica". A quick skim through it reveals some literature about digital fandoms and about "digital distance" in watching BSG from Australia at a delay.

The United Nations also hosted that conference for kids to learn about diplomacy where they modelled the BSG universe, and the scuttlebutt I hear is that people are writing about it now alongside all the stuff about BSG's relationship with 9/11 and the war on terror.
