I guess it's just that not much time has passed and people are in denial about how bad things really are... but at the same time, wasn't it in one of the first episodes where Gaius is talking about how much food the fleet will need? Suddenly no one cares how much food they need and everyone's frolicking in the uncultivated grass...and people are getting drunk in bars all over the fleet. I would have shut that shit down right away. RATIONING, PEOPLE. WE ARE RATIONING.
