DPP: Somebody's eyes are watching

Just a wee picspam today featuring some of the moments when pilots watch each other (somewhat sneakily!) in canon. I was reading an old post with a lovely thread on SASA about all of the small subtle moments we love about pilots and there's so many good ones.  Feel free to post a pic of your favorite little moment between them, whether it's some stealthy staring like these, a bit of body language that lingers too long, or whatever tiny look or touch or sound that always makes you melt for pilots.

There's a superquick moment in Hand of God where the pilots are presenting their plan to Adama and Roslin and the camera pans behind pilots. Lee is staring at Starbuck while the others are talking. *swoon* He can't keep his eyes off. *hearts in eyes*

Oh man, one of my favorites is in "The Woman King." Now I really don't like this episode for a myriad of reasons, but when Dee and Lee are all PDA and then Kara gives them this look:



I'm like "a piece of my soul just fell off." Because that's not a look of jealousy or disgust. That's a look of complete and utter loneliness and pain. Lee Adama's revenge has been served.

And another one that I just noted the other day. In Maelstrom, Lee is looking on, not speaking, while Kara reviews her gun camera footage.

This scene is very difficult to watch. I have to take issue with the "revenge" theme which I see so often in regard to Lee and his decisions about Dee related to Kara. I've never seen the revenge angle. Maybe I wear Lee-colored glasses, but I always got the sense that Lee wasn't TRYING to hurt Kara, just that he couldn't make the decision any other way. Yes, I believe his anger and mistrust were a factor, but for revenge, one needs to gain some pleasure in seeing the other person hurt. I guess I can't really see Lee doing that. IDK. I mean, his anger was mostly resolved by then and he was dealing with a lot of shame and disillusionment about who he was as a man and a spouse and a human being, for that matter. I really don't think he intentionally tried to hurt her. It's awful, nonetheless, and I certainly feel Kara's pain, but revenge? I'm not sure I'd go that far. I do think he might have felt a certain righteous satisfaction out of "doing the right and noble thing" (because it IS Lee after all), but not revenge in the classic sense. But that's just my take - I understand that there are differing views.

I think it's all his little speeches about her changing her mind etc. in "Taking a Break From All Your Worries" that make me go "oh yeah, you were trying to get some of yours back." It may not have been explicit in his mind that "I am trying to hurt Kara Thrace" but I definitely think that somewhere in his head he was thinking "this is how it feels, Kara. This is how it feels." Because he is so righteous that he often does cruel things. There are only a few times when Lee really honestly makes me angry, and they all take place from "Taking a Break From All Your Worries" to "Maelstrom." Every single one of them. (And I have so much meta in my head about that whole thing that I just won't go into it. Don't feel like angsting today.)

I agree completely. I really want to smack him. :(

ooh that's a good one! I had a really hard time finding good caps where Lee and Kara were both in the frame and Lee is sneaking a peek at Kara. Found a lot more that are the reverse, actually, Kara REALLY likes looking at Lee. (not that we blame her. ;)

Kara is so much more open with her body language and expressions, so it doesn't surprise me that she would watch him pretty openly. Lee, of course, tries to pretend that he's NOT IN LOVE WITH KARA THRACE FOR EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF HIS ADULT LIFE.

My favorite one where they are not both in the shot and Lee is looking at her, is the UBEX shot when he approaches her with alcohol right before she takes him off into the woods to see her imaginary cabin. Kara looks away smirking a bit at the end of that scene and Lee just keeps looking...

Mmm. Good observation. Also I suspect the (probably male?) camera operators probably really loved Katee's face. Lol. There's a lot of moments between them where they keep the camera focused on Kara specifically to capture all her reactions, and Lee gets a little bit shortchanged there. Esp in their hug scenes. You get much more of Kara in those moments than Lee, with a few exceptions.

OH YES! He's advertising his intent there. Together a few hours and he HAS TO HAVE HER!

Am I right in remembering that Kara was on Galactica during the time they were settling NC (Lee was on Pegasus without Dee)? What was that a few months of separation? Is there fic that captures the moment of them seeing each other/feeling that intense connection that had been missed?? There has to be!

So true! Many UB moments. She looks so lovely there, her face all soft and thoughtful.

You know, usually I'm on Lee's side in pretty much everything. But not once in that stretch of episodes. Especially not rewatching. Probably because I know what's coming. :-( So, eh, it's kind of impossible to not angst talking about things from that section of the show.
