lizziec: (BSG - Apollo & Starbuck Fence (Home Pt I)
[personal profile] lizziec posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
Monday's DPP was Celebrations. We have lots of prompts, and one lovely ficlet by [livejournal.com profile] kballgetlost. Please go leave some love in the form of reviews :)

Tuesday was pilots picspam day, and there are some glorious pilots moments. Stop by and revel in the pilot-y joy.

Wednesday was Interventions - some really interesting points of intervention in pilots relationship came up :)

Thursday brought up the Daybreak rage.

Yesterday were body part fics, and this post is still open for anyone wishing to write. There are also a couple of brilliant ficlets (one by [livejournal.com profile] rirenec here and one by [livejournal.com profile] pocochina here) - please go and leave feedback on them :)

Today we're leaving genre fic recs. Leave a comment containing a genre of fic you'd like to read more of, and then hopefully other people will leave you recommendations of fics they like in that genre. Leave as many recs as you can for your fellow shippers :)

Hm. I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but the most quietly confident Lee I've ever encountered is in Speak True (http://moodfic.livejournal.com/65479.html) by [livejournal.com profile] voleuse.

Oh, that was elegant and beautiful. And yes, quietly confident Lee is the best way to describe how he unsettles her. Marvelous. Thank you so much for the rec. I adored it!

I hadn't read it in forever, either. I actually had to google it, by which I mean I typed in "Kara/Lee fic ankle tap" and it actually came up! Thank you, internet.

I think you've read them all, but I've been in a very alphaLee mood lately too and I think rabid1st's fic ICED and its coda RESTRAINT is really the best alpha!Lee around. I actually just reread the whole series last night and though the writing gets a bit purple in places, I really like his characterization and the connection between pilots.

Really? I never knew that, C! (I would have pegged you as more interested in family dynamics between Adama and Lee. Not to say you aren't though ;)

From: [identity profile] damao2010.livejournal.com
Oh, I definitely love anything that has to do with the Adama family. But I guess you can consider hurt/comfort a secret pleasure of mine.

*whispers* I particularly love near death experiences and amnesia. The biggest the hurt, the biggest the comfort, I guess. I love the potential for meaninful insights and realizations that such desperate moments have, you know. In moments like these you realize that the "one day" you keep postponing the things you really want to may never come, and it really forces you to face things you normally wouldn't. And I love the blank slate amnesia provides. Which parts of you are really you and which parts are a result of your experiences. And the angst of those around you? Of course, there's always the risk that such stories will be overly sappy or melodramatic, but when done properly... I do love them. ;)

Lost and Found (http://suffolkgirl.livejournal.com/?skip=10&tag=bsg%20fic%20-%20lost%20and%20found)

Oh, I know this one. There are parts of it that I definitely like (a lot) and I have read it more than once, but I think there are moments that fall on the sappy category. I prefer "Promises", by the same author. Not quite as dramatic, but, emotianally, it resonates more strongly for me. I absolutely LOVE it.

Lost and Found definitely veers a bit sappy, but there are some really sweet moments in it too.

Absolutely. Have you read Promises?

Yes, I have, though not in a long time. It's so sad. :(

For hurt/comfort, some old faves of mine are:

Falling (http://dionusia.livejournal.com/10571.html) by [livejournal.com profile] dionusia.

Running (http://m.fanfiction.net/s/3645798/1/) by Kaynara.

And I hesitate to call this one hurt/comfort because there's not much comfort to be had, but it's beautifully written and I cannot resist the siren call of pilots hypothermia in space:
Liliquoi Moon (http://www.yuletidetreasure.org/archive/9/liliquoimoon.html) by dirty diana.

LJ was blocking me from posting these earlier. Here's three that I thought of when you posted for Hurt/Comfort. I generally prefer Kara comforting Lee because I usually feel like he's more likely to accept it but once in a while a fic writer manages to get Kara to accept comfort from Lee while still being in character.

Ship to Ship (http://brynnmck.livejournal.com/46471.html) by Brynnmck is my favorite friendship fic! It's a series of phone calls between Lee and Kara when she's on Galactica and he's on the Pegasus. Really sweet, excellent banter, and everything brynn writes is fantastic (so read all the rest of her stuff too!)

That's got to be one of my favorite fics EVER. In fact when I wrote the comment I was thinking "something like Ship to Ship." Since you went through the trouble of linking I guess I'll re-read. :-D Thank you.

oops sorry! ha ha.

It's kind of hard to find just friendshippy fics for them I think, because the UST always works its way in there! ;)

From: [identity profile] onlyariana.livejournal.com
Don't be sorry. I think that fic should be rec'd daily.

Even this has a bit of USTyness in it. Kara isn't too happy about the whole Dee situation. But I just feel like friends and kick ass partners is the one thing they got right in canon so I like to see more of it. Of course there's always an attraction so that's just a given.

You're welcome! A few months back someone did a DPP where they asked for recs for Kara/Lee fics that were only available at ff.net or AO3 and people compiled a list -- you might find some new fics there, too.
