Yeah, you are right. They are both unbelievably frakked up. I'm not saying that Lee is super confident and absolutely certain that Kara loves him above everybody else but I think he knows that he means a lot to her and that the connection they have is pretty damn special. What he thinks is that despite the fact that she loves him, she prefers to just stay friends with him and he understands that and respects that. I think at some points (early seasons and after TAB), Kara is of the same opinion (Lee loves me but just wants to be a friend).
