I really don't think anyone does the 'look of impossible love' better than the Pilots. The tension, the pretty, the UST, the heartbreak of it all -- they kill me with every glance!

What non-physical moments are your favorite? I love the under the wing scene of Maelstrom (I know some disagree with me!), I love the water fight, I love 'no takebacks' -- but I know there are so many of them out there!

Outside of the show, do you have any fic recs that do a really good job of the tension? The friendship? The longing? What about the fanart out there? Share your favorites, prompt each other, and let's talk about the lingering touch of love unsatisfied :)

One of my very favorites is in the mini. Kara's face breaks for a second-- just the tinest fraction of a second-- when Tyrol tells her that Lee is dead. And just as quickly, the look is gone, and she pulls herself back together.

But for that one second--GAH... she's shattered.

LUV IT.

Is it this one?

Katee makes Kara so expressive throughout. I really adore that about her Starbuck. She makes those little moments just perfect.

The very one. Awesome job of capturing that moment.

*sigh* I don't think it truly hits home for her until that moment that the world is really ending and lots of people are dead. One of my favorite things about the miniseries is watching the subtle ways those two sort of grab onto each other as lifelines.

Yes. I think jeneviverose was saying the other day how these two really humanized each other in the mini-- like each was the only person the other could connect with. A lifeline. Great way to put it.

It's one of my favourites too, because it's so obvious to us that hearing this is so utterly devastating for her and in that moment, she's completely open. And then she snaps everything back into place....bravo, Katee.

There are so many...
But since we've started with the mini, well I love the moment when she unfolds the picture on the locker to reveal Lee is in there and prays for his soul. That's when I knew love was in the air...

I suspected it from the way she looked when Tyrol told her he was dead, but that look on her face when she touched that photograph just confirmed it.

(though his coming back was what made me sure it was mutual and turned me into a shipper)

Miniseries, the scene in my icon/below. SO non-physical, but OH MY GODS THE LOOKING.

Er, ok, he's holding her hand, but it's just SO guh-making.

And every time I see this cap or watch the scene, I think, "She loves him" just like the first time. *happy sigh*

No, better - I knew she loved him from the moment with the photograph, but this scene was what hit me in the face with "oh my gods they love each other and it's MUTUAL!!!"

So much love.

Actually, I realise now, that what I probably really though is "...And she's going to do something about it." I was so wrong. *bangs head*

Mentally, I was yelling at them to kiss already, dammit! Or at least hug. Or something.

Weirdly, the fact that they didn't do anything of the sort was what made me fall even more in love with them. Because that moment just gave away that there was a lot between them, and that it probably existed even before Zak's death (it had to, if they haven't seen each other since) - and that this wasn't going to play out like your normal love story.

To balance things out, how about a scene involving just Lee?

Fast-froward a bit to the season 3 and The Son Also Rises....

... and Lee's face in the scene where Romo talks to Six about his lost love. That scene works on so many levels, but mostly b/c it's all about Lee. And he never says a word. Just stands there in the corner with a thousand different emotions running across his face. Probably my favorite scene in the entire series. Beautifully done on every level imaginable. Gah.

Yes! That scene was perfection. (I'd also say that the scene in "UB" where he finds out from his father that Kara's married Sam is a close second - he had the perfect look of someone who's been suckerpunched in the stomach. And I never forgave Adama for not even noticing that Lee looked like he wanted to die there!)

These are some of my favorites, because they come in the middle of scenes that are really not particularly focused on the Kara/Lee ship.

They're talking about other things, but then their eyes just catch and boom, all you can see is how much they love each other:

YES. <3

Also, thought not non-verbal, they are talking business conceivably...but their eyes and their bodies are saying something else!

Not quite the look of impossible longing and not an eyefrak, but one of my favourite pilots moments because they're so in sync on every level even when they're not being shippy (and I love their look of "ugh, gross, Mom and Dad are making out, can we look away now?"):
