Hey peeps, It's FRIDAY!! (Why do short weeks always seem the longest?!) Before I Get to today's little game, just want to give a shoutout to yesterday's KISSING MEME. There's lots of great little fics, pretty art, and gifs featuring pilots K-I-S-S-I-N-Ging. I strongly encourage folks to keep adding to it. There are some great kisses already, but surely we haven't tapped the depth and variety we could just yet.

Anyway, tomorrow I plan to put up another writing challenge for the weekend (hint: start thinking about your favorite romantic tropes/cliches in fiction now!), so today I thought we could play a fun little game.

Here is a list of all the episodes of BSG. Your job is to choose an episode title, and completely toss out the canon plot and give us a new summary of what the episode should be about. You can be as cracktastic or as serious as you want with these. And they don't have to fit into the general timeline of the show/where the episode actually occurred at all.

For example, perhaps you think Blood on the Scales should be an episode about Fat Lee Adama's epic weight loss battle after New Caprica. It could be filled with tons of Rocky-like training montages, and even a moment of utter despair where Lee turns to cutting himself (while weighing himself!) because he's so depressed! Naturally he would rally when Helo asks Kara to forget their differences and come down and whip him into shape.

The sky's the limit, so have fun. And remember, get those fic muscles warmed up writing some kisses and get ready for the weekend Trope Showdown!

EPIPHANIES

Obviously, this is about Lee and Kara realizing their deep and profound love for each other and acting on it.

(There are other characters who do other things, too, but I don't really remember.) :P

What there are other characters? I'm confused by this. I only remember Kara and Lee. ;)

I have to say I liked the epilogue episode "A Day in the Life" where we got to see a glimpse of Kara and Lee's life on Earth 2, finally making their relationship work and building a house with a porch-swing and talking about starting a family someday. Those two kids deserved to finally be happy!

I LOVE EPILOGUES! I have to say that I adored that little cabin. Kara griping about the splinters from the porchswing was so HER! LOL. They deserved the sweetness at the end. Lovely episode!

I liked the bit when they made home brew then got drunk singing cadet songs until the wee hours and the fireflies came out from off the stream.

Oh, the cadet years. Remember in Downloaded when we got to hear about the time Kara thought Lee had put all that porn on her computer? Too funny! And then of course it was Helo, thinking he'd come up with the best prank ever and failing miserably. At least they got him back in the end and even found some *inspiration* in those movies :)

I liked it even better when Kara got her own back and made a special picture from one of the screen shots of a said movie, superimposing both Lee and Helo's heads.

A MEASURE OF SALVATION

Early S1 in which Lee is furious with Kara for letting Zak fly without being qualified. He's more rotten than usual, and she's guilty and angry, and their friendship is nearly ruined because of it all. It's Bill who actually saves their relationship by being an awesome father.

Clearly AU. ;)

I feel like "go to your corners" would work it's way in there somehow. Though not I'm not sure if I mean for boxing or for time-outs :)

The Farm

From: [identity profile] rirenec.livejournal.com
I personally like The Farm, where they 'go green' and decide to open a bio dynamic enclosure thus trying to fix Earth one by reclaiming the soil.

I like how things don't always got to plan, such as when the pig fencing doesn't work and the little runts escape! I just chuckled at the bit when Lee falls in their crap trying to catch them, and to which Kara almost dies of laughter, then makes him wait outside naked while she hoses him down *oh that outdoor wet scene*. I also loved it later when Lee then has to slaughter the pigs but can't and so decides to become veggi - much to Kara's bacon eating amusement.

I appreciated how the first winter was shown as tough for them, and how he finds it hard work when he has to learn to knit to make their clothes and then on the coldest night when the themo heating cuts out… poor them... but how that even at this darkest of times they find some joy when they have to cuddle close to keep warm. Sigh. And how the next spring all their hardships payoff! It’s cute when Kara discovers the joy of baby chicks... then has to fight her hidden fear of adult chickens chasing her later in the summer.

What I like best is how when all was said and done, eventually it all works for them.

They even get a cow - from somewhere??? They call her Gaius.

They even get his & hers tractors. Kara's is bigger and faster and she spray paints 'Eat my Dust Adama' on the back. And the day she does it, he whispers to her later that he'd sooner eat *edited for content*

;) :D ;)

They scrap them down from auto loaders and the forklifts from the hanger? I gave up on this making sense as soon as I thought up the pigs and cows, lol :)

THE TIES THAT BIND

Date: 2011-09-09 05:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aurora-0811.livejournal.com
Frustrated by their lack of communication and time together in S4, Lee decides to take matters into his own hands and guarantees face time with Kara.

Late into the evening rotation Lee Adama remains on board the Galactica after his meeting with President Roslin and Admiral Adama. When Gaeta sounds the shift change bell he makes his way down to the senior officers head knowing he'll find Kara there after her CAP.

Lee ends up surprising Kara mid-shower and confronts her about never having a moment alone together. The argue a little and flirt alot. Kara stands there stark naked daring him to make a move. Lee calls her bluff and removes his tie and uses it to bind Kara's hands to the shower head for some uninterrupted togetherness.

Later when the CAG and Caprica's Quorum Rep stroll out of the head soaking wet, hand in hand, and laughing to each other it's clear that even when living on different ships, the bond between Starbuck and Apollo will never fade.

THE WOMAN KING

Date: 2011-09-09 07:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] aurora-0811.livejournal.com
The fleet finds Earth and it's a lush green planet with tribes of people scattered all over. The Colonials land in an open field and start investigating their new home.

Adama, Roslin, Lee and Kara walk through the nearby forest and encounter a tribe of locals that stop quickly in their tracks. They are shocked by the arrival of the fleet. The head of the tribe steps forward and inspects each of the new-comers. He then speaks directly to his brothers and sisters in a primitive language. Suddenly the entire tribe falls to their knees and prays to the Gods above. The Colonials remain confused until a young woman no more than 16 grabs Kara's hand and pulls her through the trees to a clearing with a giant carved stone sarcophagus. It is adorned with wings and triple patterned rings that stops Kara in her tracks. She approaches the stone to find pressed into the top are two hexagonal discs with a name and serial number she instantly recognizes.

As Adama, Roslin and Lee surround Kara and share her confusion, the eldest wise woman of the tribe steps into the clearing and announces that The Woman King has finally returned home.

Well, I know it was divisive, but personally I was thrilled when the Kobol story arc jumped the tracks and became a thinly-veiled re-enactment of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Remember how in "33" we discovered that all the human beings had themselves been artificially constructed in order to find out what was the Great Question of Life, the Universe and Everything, which would lead to the Answer: 33? But then the stupid Cylons had blown up the Colonies to make room for a hyperspace bypass before the Great Question could be discovered? (The Passage) And then they subjected poor Kara and Lee to their horrible, mind-rending poetry (The Road Less Travelled)? But thank goodness they escaped together in the amazingly improbable spaceship The Eye of Jupiter which ran entirely on algae, and spent the rest of the series making out, with only a quick stop-over at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe (Eye of Jupiter - Guess What's Coming to Dinner). Good times.

Colonial Day

From: [identity profile] embolalia.livejournal.com
I'll never forget when Laura announced that even though they were still fighting cylons, the human race really *did* need to start having enough babies for a new colony to sustain itself, so they were all going to celebrate Colonial Day by having enormous amounts of sex. It took Kara a little while to get over being pissed off about being told to have a baby, but Lee talked her down and by the time he cornered her in the empty rec room and started kissing her, she was more than on board with the baby-making activities.
