DPP: School time

As per usual I changed my mind almost at the last minute about today’s topic. I was going to ask the shipper nation about some stuff and I ended up with this idea instead. I think it’s safe to “blame” the news about Jamie’s new guess-star appearance for this.

We talked a while back about Academy!fic so even if I don’t take them out this discussion I suggest that we focus on other stuff. So, my proposal fro today's topic is this:

Let’s imagine our beloved and messy pilots at school. Not at the Fleet Academy but some other place. We all know that Lee has some good physics knowledge and that Kara likes to repair/build stuff so my first suggestion would be: Technical School. Then again, this would be AU so...

Also, even if/mainly because we are used in fic with them as students, I’d like to know your opinion on them as Profs.

You can throw ideas, prompts, write something if your muse is in the mood, whatever you like.

Ugh if real life (read: work) wasn't happening, I would already be writing Kara and Lee as teenagers in vocational school! Machine shop classes! Oil & grease fights! Wood shop classes! Making things and gifting them perhaps!

In the professor area...why has there never been a fic with both Kara and Lee as rival Academy instructors? (That I can think of anyway?) Regardless, since one of the things I love about pilots is their mostly equality, I'm not sure how I feel about one being professor and the other student. I mean we already KIND OF get that on show with the CAG/pilot relationship in briefings and such, but... I don't know.

Hey someone should turn it around and write Lee giving Kara heck in a briefing. Maybe on the Pegasus when he gets demoted. (She could punish him later. ;)

I still want queenofthorns to write the next installment of her Cyllon High (FNL crossover series) with English Teacher/Guidance counselor Lee and art teacher Kara.

I'm not sure how I feel about one being professor and the other student

i'm unsure about that also. i do like to think (why am i unable to write properly????) about them as professors/instructors in the same time/place. not necessarily rivals, more like having different approaches. and then there is that time when the scheduling for the semester is done.... hmmmmm.

i should hold on to this image if i want to survive the 2 weeks from Hell doing the schedule for the faculty. *sigh*

I love Kara with purple hair, but OMG Lee as Michael Cera is terrifying (I can't see the appeal of Michael Cera).

I nearly wrote a Breakfast Club crossover drabble during Bingo Week with pilots as the teachers, but never got around to cutting it to 100 words.

Besides, pilots as teachers/professors make a LOT of sense, they were kind of like Mommy and Daddy pilot to their squadron in the show. Maybe something could work with Lee as a high school principal and Kara as a teacher? Or Lee teaching civics or physics or English (he would SO be in charge of the Debate Club!)? I'd love them as professors to college-age kids too, because for some reason my image of Professor!Lee always comes with glasses, and I have a bit of a thing for those :) And Professor! Kara would of course be the kind of prof who puts her class through the wringer but then takes them to the pub afterwards (and won't particularly care if they're a few months short of 21).

it always hit me when i realise that im not the only one with some idea especially when is something so random.

i like especially like the idea of him as a physichs prof. i blame that scvene in the mini for it. everythime that i see it i want to ask him to join me in an electrical machines class. and OK YES, to the Debate Club

hehehe. see, here is where i'm lucky. forst because mine are always older than 21 and then again, we have 18 as legal limit.

getting serrious now, i think that she would be a good teacher. maybe Apllied Physichs (good reason to fight all the time with Teoretical Physics prof) and maybe art.

BUT, no matter the subject, i would not want to be their dean.

LOL, 18 is the legal limit where I am too (it varies by state) but I went on the assumption that pilots would be American in modern-day AU. Maybe we can make them Canadian, for the 18 age limit? BSG was shot in Vancouver, after all. And I really like the idea of Kara teaching Applied Physics, or aeronautical design (design the Vipers! yes!).

BUT, no matter the subject, i would not want to be their dean.

I usually make the same assumption - modern day pilots as americans. i don't really know why, is just one of those things.

But, yes to the Canadian idea, or even Europe. And now I think exchange program - based on JB's accent(s) and french.

In my FNL crossover, Kara is an art teacher (and volleyball/pep squad coach) and Lee is an English teacher/guidance counsellor. And I have promised taragel more of that, so sometime in the next few months, it will happen :D
