The idea of "love languages" was popularized by Gary Chapman in his Christian marriage book, The 5 Love Languages. Chapman describes five specific love languages: words of affirmation, quality time, giving/receiving gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. His theory is that individuals have specific ways they communicate love, and ways love is best communicated to them, and to understand one another's love languages would help relationships because couples would be better able to communicate love to one another in the way we need to hear it.

Now, leaving aside the marriage-therapy-talk and the fact that he was discussing healthy relationships and pilots can be dysfunctional at best, LOL, I thought it would be interesting to look today at how Kara and Lee communicate love to one another (or how we wish they would/envision them doing in fic). In canon, as far as we know, there are very few sweeping declarations of love...just Lee's "I love you" in Home and the legendary "LEE ADAMA LOVES KARA THRACE"/"KARA THRACE LOVES LEE ADAMA" in Unfinished Biz. However, one could argue they tell each other they love each other all the time...in the way they fly, work together, touch one another, kick ass and take names together, etc. etc. etc. You get the picture. (I hope.)

SO. Today we will be talking about how pilots SHOW love for one another (I'm going to go all fifth grade English teacher and say SHOW DON'T TELL, childrens). This can take the form of vids, clips, gifs, metadiscussion of moments in the series that fit the theme or when you wish they'd shown love for one another, fic, drabbles, fic recs that fit the theme, whatever you want! I want to see some luuuurrrrve.

I was going to post more but they stopped loading :*( Here are a few clips to get you going though...

*sigh* that was the moment that turned me into a pilots!shipper for life - before that, I was all "oh, attractive young leads snarking at each other, I am genre-savvy enough to know how this will turn out, ha ha!"

What got me to stop being smug and turn into a fangirl was the look on Kara's face in that scene when she saw him, and Lee being adorable and underplaying the fact that he's, y'know, NOT DEAD, and both of them trying to defuse the EPIC UST with jokes (and me going "aieeeeeee, holy frak there's something already there!").

Pilots have basically ruined me for any other ship, especially the kind that do witter on about their "feelings" at length. It just seems so empty compared to them, if less painful . And I'm sorry to be gabbling, but the idea of miniseries!pilots just sets me off.
